Ferrara, often called the city of bicycles, has a long tradition of everyday cycling, especially in its historic center.
In September 2024, I cycled from the city center of Ferrara at Piazza della Cattedrale to the outskirts along Via Bologna.
We start our trip in the low-traffic zone of the historic center, then continue on some average to low-quality separated bike paths with a high level of conflict with pedestrians. Finally, we reach an acceptable section with bike lanes in a residential area—until you’re left with car traffic and no separation at all.
