this is everything I spent on my first Iron Man triathlon vacation so first up is the entry fee which is $560 which includes the race the USAT triathlon membership fee and I also got photos of the finish line and next up is accommodation i paid $900 for four nights at the place that we’re staying at now in Panama City and I also paid for one hotel on the way down which was $115 and next up is gas i paid $160 for fuel down to Florida and back up to Illinois and the next couple items technically should be expensed over the course of a couple triathlons but since this is my first one I’m going to include them all now first up is my bike i paid $2,500 for my bike i was using my dad’s old bike for a while but I wanted a bit of a nicer bike $2,500 is kind of crazy i get that but I’ve gotten really into this sport and then next I paid $190 for my wets suit which I wasn’t able to wear at this race because the swim was canceled so hopefully I’ll be able to use that in the next race and then $130 for my triuit and then $120 for my bike helmet and then $140 for my bike shoes and $300 for two pairs of running shoes one that I used in pretty much all of my training for 9 months and then the second I used towards the end of the training and used on race day and then I paid $200 for a tuneup and waxing the day before race day i know that’s probably a bit overexpensive because I waited until the last day and then the next category is accessories like my sunglasses race belt goggles socks my swim cap and then my bike repair bag and other repair stuff which comes out to $200 and then for nutrition like gels and electrolytes for all of my training and on race day I spent around $400 that stuff isn’t cheap and then for meals I’m estimating what I spent over what I normally would have spent over 5 days of traveling and being here in Panama City Beach and that comes out to $300 the final grand total comes out to $6,215 for my 4-day triathlon vacation which if you’ve seen my previous content I spent about the same for a 3-month European backpacking trip so just note that if you want to get into the sport of triathlon it’s really expensive

You’re cute 🙂
how much did you spend on the steroids?
This why Im such a big supporter of playground workouts. Fraction of the cost & headaches to support a business that is basically just charting out a route and giving you a medal. I’d rather plan it myself and save hundreds on the cost of entry and travel to just do it somewhere near me and cuz its fun, not cuz some company has a cool logo & large following
13:53 and there we have it. You are a fascist.
This comment is aimed at anyone else out there that wants to complete an IM to feel that sense of achievement but who doesn't have such a privilege of spending an amount such as this before race day. You DO NOT need to spend anywhere close to this kind of money on the kit. Remember the saying " It's not the machine that will make you faster but the engine". In reference to cycling and for context last weekend I completed a 200mile cycling event showing up at the start line with the cheapest Road Bike Halfords had on offer (£400) with the majority of cyclists having spent thousands of £ on their bike (some of which were TT bikes) with the end result of climbing every hill faster than anyone else. This is not meant as bragging message but one which shows you can enter events "on budget" and perform equally well (if not better). Same goes for shoes and all the other branded equipment that YOU can buy other cheaper alternatives for. Lastly welldone to the author nevertheless for putting this video together its still v informative and entertaining but it has made me feel sorry for whose caught in the consumptionism/advertisement. It's OK to rock up to an event with Non branded kit or enter a similar style of an event which isn't an IM
I do biathlon and to buy just one 1827 Fortner (the rifle) cost me $6,017
Spent more on gels than food 😭 😭 😭
Your also from Illinois
I do three disciplines of bicycle races. It’s quite expensive. I can barely ride outside with the constant rain in GA. I’m thankful for my indoor Zwift setup.
Forget the triathlon, bro. What is your shoulder workout
There’s no way you need to spend that much. Get an old dinger or borrow a bike, crack out yer old trainers and get some speedos on
Only $160 in gas from Illinois to Florida?

Spending 6k to run bike and swim with other people is atrocious

Mfdoom? Nice
Ueah that's not really fair, the bike and shoes, helmet etc all get averaged over how many days you keep that stuff until you buy a replacement

My total cost of my first full Ironman is around Sgd 15,000.

2500 for a bike is insanely cheap
For Christ's sake I can run, swim and bike for free
2500 for a bike is actually a really good price! Most of mine are definitely more than that…
Do you like running, swimming, or biking best?
Only 160 on gas from IL to FL is awesome. Thats the only thing I habe a frame of reference for since ive done that drive a lot 😂

What watch you use bro?
mediocre amount of white privilege
Make your own fruit smoothies and put them in a sippy bag. We freeze it too. They love it and it's less than 400 to make ❤
I subscribe to help you make money 💰 😊
That’s a lot of money just to see who’s the best at exorcising.
Bro imagine paying this much to do something you can do for free
Okay random, but wow! A diesel suv? Not common in America
Bro $2,500 for a carbon bike is a steal!
Been getting into tri’s, 2500 is a steal
Did you win?
