Oh, I should have stopped last year to be honest. It was uh it was just as expected, stressful and you know, street furniture, chaotic, whatever. And um big big shame to lose people as well. Halfway through the stage, I saw the crash and he you know, it didn’t look too bad, but obviously gave his head a knock on thing. It was a bit of a concussion call, which is obviously, you know, the right thing, but it’s a big shame to lose him so early. A huge huge shame. I just saw your little boy giving you a little gift there. What What have we What have we got? special moment, a family family moment. He’s got some stickers, I think. But, uh, I don’t know you can flag them. I know you’re blingging everything, aren’t you? In the G. Of course we are. So, uh, but, uh, no, it’s great to have him out, you know. It’s, uh, well, yeah, it’s going to be over soon. So, at least he’s old enough to start to remember it. So, um, yeah, nice to have the family here. Can you enjoy it at least as well? Hopefully when I get to Paris, but it’s it’s hard to enjoy a stage like that. But, um, now it’s nice to get through it unscathed. But um there’ll be nicer stages to come, I’m

  1. Ah… I'm old enough to remember the good ol' days of pro cycling and the Tour… when men were men–and did not even wear helmets–and a concussion would have never been a good enough reason to abandon the tour on Day 1. If nothing's broken and sticking out of your skin bleeding… you should man up and continue on!

  2. He is sooo skinny this year. And his face looks bit tired. I think its the right time to quit. Money in the bank, time to look after your health.

  3. He is still in top contenders and this is more than enough for us. It is much better and interesting for me to see him in the front group than watching pogi he is definitely a superman. He proves his passion of cycling and his strentgh to the world and he is still better than most young cyclists (even he do not believe himself but he should)

  4. Yeah…by the sound of his voice it doesn't seem like his heart is in it anymore. It's going to be a long tour, GT. He said it…"I should have stopped last year." It's sad that so many champions rarely know when to call it a career and move on. Chris Froome? They always think they still got it.

  5. Gent Wevelgem 2015: Thomas driving at the edge of the road to put pressure on Stijn Vandenbergh is for me one of the cycling moments I'll cherich forever.

  6. So skinny this year, just to start the Tour. I preferred to see him lose it during the three weeks. He may be fast and light right now but he’s got very limited physical resources – other than his incredible ability to suffer. I want him to ignore the Ineos team nutritionist and sneak over to the Bora bus for a burger and beer.

  7. It will be sad to see him go, but he is clearly looking forward to retirement. I remember Peter Sagan's last year…. at the start of Roubaix a journalist asked him if this would be his last time and he said "oh, I hope so". Same good cheer.
