Dramatic day in the 2025 Tour to France stage three on site here in Dunkerk. Tim Mirier grabs the stage victory. Sprints to victory ahead of Jonathan Milan to celebrate for Sudal Quickstep. But behind his teammate and GC leader star Remco Evanapole crashed with around three kilometers to go. Bloodied his left elbow, his left shin. I was there at the finish line. and got some footage of Remco making his way through the fans. Truly upset. And by the time he got to the bus, you could see the frustration. I think he’d already gone to the X-ray machine that made it to the bus. One door was closed, the other one was closing on him. Not a great sign for Remco Evanapul in a day where the team was celebrating for sprint victory for Tim Mlier, the European champion and hot favorite coming into this 2025 Tour to France for the Sprints. He didn’t get a shot in stage one. Well, that went over to Yasper Philipsson. And in stage two, it was over to Matthew Vanderpool who took over the yellow jersey from Philipsson. And today, another bit of drama because Yasper Philipsson is now out of the race. Crashing out in the green jersey. A terrible way to end his race after celebrating victory in day one. Well, today he was a domino effect crash in the intermediate sprint when we saw Brian Kard trying to make his way around the Leadal Trek boys and there was also Lawrence Rex on his right hand side from Inter Mare. They bumped. I don’t know quite who’s to blame or if anyone’s to blame in that, but as a result, Kard nearly lost control of his bike. Did a great job keeping his bike upright, but then slammed over to the side. Off to his left there was Yasper Phillipsson hit the deck. Phillipsson right on his right hand side. We could tell immediately, in fact they knew immediately his right collar bone was broken. We think that’s going to be the case. He was out. I was speaking to the team at the finish before the riders were to arrive. The team press officer saying, “Well, the idea if they can collect themselves, they were going to sprint for Kaden Groves today.” And we saw in fact the yellow jersey of Vanderpool trying to set things up for Kaden Groves. He eventually got seventh place and we’re going to get to the sprint because it was wild day out there. Hopefully Philipson recovers well and we see him again in the next races. But let us know down in the comments who do you think was to blame in that crash. Cocard Lawrence Rex or is this just cycling? That’s how it goes unfortunately in a day that was frankly quite boring. Uh we never saw an escape go free today and finally Alpasinda Kunik took it up said hey guys we got to get the dunk or 70 km on tap. We want to get this day over with. It was Alpas and Dunig was lead track doing a little bit of pooling but frankly the pace looked slow if you were tuning in on television and a bit of a sleeper but I can assure you that wasn’t a slow pace. They’re moving along out there after that incident. Well we saw Tim Wellins go up the road right before the only climb of the day. a cat 4 climb that offers only one point to the first place rider over the top. And Wellins said, “Hey guys, I’m going to go up the road.” And they let him go up the road. Doing so, I think this is a planned move between him and Tad A. He was able to take the points away from Tad A and put himself in the mountains jersey, which is a great prize for Tim Wellins, who has the Belgian National Championship jersey. also relieves Tatty Pagotch of that polka dot jersey so he doesn’t have to do all the mixed press protocol every day after the stage. So Wellen set up after that. He got the point he needed to take over the lead in the mountains competition. And coming in here to the finish where the wind was picking up as you can see it is now. We started off the day in the rain. It was nasty out there. Coming in maybe as the wind maybe the riders were going calm all day and how often we see this in tour stages when it’s calm all day like that. Usually we see a lot of crashes in the final and that’s what happened. We saw Lenko go down. We saw another crash with Garren Thomas, Yordi Mayuse. We saw Lawrence Pathy walking around there too. And yet later the camera picked up the gold helmet of Olympic time trial and road race champion and time trial world champion and favorite for the tour to France, Remco Evanapole. We don’t quite know how bad of a crash this was. We got images of Primis Ragglitch who himself is often in crashes and can sympathize with Remco Evanapool on the crash. Remco, we don’t know. It was right at 3 km to go right after the team and we saw Remco yelling up to Matteo Katana with around 8 km to go. Matteo, go to the right. Go to the right. Remco knew the roads well or he was getting information from his DS and that was right. That was the fastest way around. But shortly afterwards, we saw this crash right at 3 km to go. Remco, we hope he’s okay. We hope he lives to fight at least a stage five because he has a great shot of trying to get that TT and then for the overall the tour to France. But that just shows the drama that can play out in any tour to France stage. There’s highs, there’s lows, and in this case it happened in the same team. Now on to that sprint because it is pretty much straight in arrival. Once the cameras flipped off of Remco there talking with Primos Rock, we had a sprint on hand and it was Leal Trek doing most the lead out. Now, the only technical difficulty in that final was this right-hand turn. I think it was with around 1,400 meters to go. Right or left? I think it was right. 1,400 meters to go. Lead track was firmly in control with Yasper Stoven and I think behind him was Conn. And then the big unit of Jonathan Balon, Tim Mlier, Kar, and Bert Van Lair to the final. Sorry if I’m pronouncing it wrong. Stumbling over the names, but Tim Mlier did not stumble. When it came time for the sprint, he Bert put him into position on the lead track riders and he and from there Timier had to make his way on Milan’s wheel through the sprint and in that final we saw that big sweeper. Timier went the long way around the left hand sweeper to get Jonathan Milan pipped him on the line. I was right there with Milan at the finish line. The team was waiting whether or not he got it and he found out he didn’t get it. Oh, the drama there. Also with the drama with Remco Evan to pull back behind and then another crash in the final 300 meters or so chaos and crashes all day especially on a day that was so calm early on and that’s just the tour to France but it’s Tim Miller on top at the end of the day when there are questions about his own teammate Remco at the end of stage three of the 2025 tour to France.

  1. Wow! Just WOW!! One of these times a rider is going to flip right into the spectators! When are these riders going to start mounting F1 Halo devices on their handlebars?!?

  2. Anybody on here been watching the professional bike racing longer than 5 years commenting? This slice and dice of Professional sprinting. It’s called racing in an era of fans who grew up on padded playgrounds. HTFU

  3. As we all know as an athlethe, now matter the discipline,or maybe yes,as we can see here ,just a split second can change youre oponent life even ot may be fatal, so lets make some change, i love this sport soo much but i dont wanna see someone die on live tv

  4. The fact that it was a green jersey crashing and then being badly injured makes for headlines. A similiar crash with two unknown riders and without any injuries would be a footnote to the race.
I, personally, could never be a sprinter as it is too dangerous.

  5. Milan was the first to drift to the right. Coquard reacted on that, but right at that moment Rex came from behind. So far Milan has played a roll in every incident. With Girmay in stage 1 and also in the Meeus crash. Because of the UCI’s inconsistency he’s very lucky to not have received at least 1 yellow card so far.

  6. The guy in the red and white jersey (Rex) shouldered the guy in the red and yellow jersey – Rex should be banned from the rest of the race.

  7. Seems like a lot of hostility out there manifesting itself in crashes.. but yeah no doubt crashes are a part of cycling.
