Just picked up this NOS acs rotor for my 88 Schwinn Predator restoration project, it’s been in the box since new and it’s got some pitting, I wanna clean it up but I don’t want a high shine polish and I’d like to keep the original decals, any advice (0000 steel wool?)

Honestly I’d leave it alone. It’s in pretty good shape
Scotch brite maybe
an even surface, not polished, almost retaining the mill-marks, could be done by masking (or avoiding) the decal, and with sandpaper “twist it” to 1) remove the bad anodization 2. leave a brushed aluminum finish. Raw aluminum is an easy fix, but anodized really complicates it. 😀👍 (a dremel with mini flap-wheel disc is an option too – you can polish “with the grain”)
Jewelers Rouge. I’d use white rouge on a cotton polish head and a Dremel and be gentle, or leave it. Looks great for its age.
Don’t use steel wool if you want the finish to stay nice.
Try Mother’s Mag Polish.
Blast from my past! Had one on my 87 Freeform back then! Keep it the way it is cause it’s not bad…. It honestly looks better than mine did back in the early 90s when I retired the bike lol
My ass thought that was a metal skateboarding wheel. 🤣🤣🤣 Oh, I need help.
Machine shop?
Get some Autosol
Daaaamn.. I remember drooling over one of those when I was a kid when they first appeared in BMX Plus / BMX action.
Meguiar’s Aluminum wheel cleaner
Blue Magic cream not the liquid works wonders
You don’t want to use any Scotch brider sandpaper that’ll just make scratches that you have to take out and it will take the writing and everything off
