Hello I currently ride a Specialized Diverge E5 Elite (photo 1) which I like and have no problems with but like anyone want to upgrade to a lighter carbon gravel bike from this aluminum frame. I have found a Twitter Full Carbon Gravel bike for sale that the seller is considering trading for my diverge. I’m aware twitter bikes are a Chinese brand that makes cheap bikes and there could be issues also so this is a risk on my end. Owner of the Twitter is a bike enthusiast who built the bike and hasn’t even rode it.

Not a great trade. Many of those open mold carbon frames can be tempting but they’re hit or miss with many just feeling stiff and dead. I’d venture to say the aluminum Specialized has a nice ride feel with only a marginal weight penalty.

The second hand value of the bikes is like 800 for specialized vs 400 for the twitter

  3. Your has hydraulic GRX 600 presumably, on a nice alu frame. The twitter has 105 with mechanical disks, might be lighter but for sure not worth the “downgrade” I would way rather upgrade the diverge with a nice set of carbon wheels and nice tires then ride that twitter lol

  4. Heard many complaints that twitter carbon is pretty shitty quality.
I personally would stick with spez here.

I have to say that I don’t quite understand why Twitter (or the guys who offer Twitter products on Ali) still offer something like mechanical brakes. The same frame model is also available with hydraulic brakes and electronic shifting.

I mean, I ride a Gravel V1 myself, which strangely enough was first offered with 2x, only to be upgraded to 1x half a year later, only to be offered as 2x again.

Naaaah. I’d keep the diverge and look around for a good used set of budget carbon wheels, Carbon bars and seat post and a good used GRX812 full groupset. Just upgrade that one off marketplace or Craigslist scores piece by piece. All kinds of good deals on parts going around. I bought a Boyd CCC wheelset for 250 bucks and a full GRX 812 group that was basically new for 300

  7. The frame being carbon doesn’t mean it’ll be lighter or better at all. Some aluminium frames are better than some carbon frames and vice versa.

I currently ride a carbon gravel bike, but I’d happily go back to aluminium in future.

I personally like the look of deeper carbon rims, so I’d keep your current frame and get a new set of wheels if you want to upgrade something.

That Twitter looks cool as fuck.

See if you can ride the bike. Does it feel heavy and dead or does it feel great?

I love the look of hidden cables enough to do stupid things….
