After selling my First bike on buycycle I had to pack it, I packed it better then the instruction video shows.

After a week the buyer recieves the bike, he brought it straight to the bike shop, after a bit more then a day he puts in a claim because the di2 suddenly doesn’t work, the Monday after he sends me a picture with a lowered stack, removed extension and a broken di2 cable.

Buycycle stepped in and after 4 days they tell me I didn’t pack my bike correct and the cable broke because of my bars not being packed good enough (even tho i followed the instructions of their video and even put extra support in the whole box to be sure).

They tell me i have to pay 50 euro for the damages, the cable (17 euro) and the work the mechanic has, im very surprised by this because I send it away in perfect working order and after being worked on by the mechanic it’s not working anymore.

As the buycycle “experts” tell me its from the hanging bar that put tension on the cable which damaged it, that is literally impossible as you can see in the picture of the lay-out of the di2 cables and which one is broken, no matter if the bars are hanging or not, the tension doesn’t change.

Any suggestions besides mailing them (they reply slow af)

  1. I don’t know about Buycycle specifically but it is very common on such platforms to safeguard the buyer. It’s called Buycycle and not Sellcycle for a reason 😀

I had a similar litigation via PayPal and despite being absolutely on the right side I lost it because they protect the seller.

Said so, I am afraid I can’t help you but you have all my empathy. Good luck!

  2. As a buyer I had the opposite experience – the seller didn’t mention some important info and replaced the pedals and saddle for a cheaper one before sending. Buycycle were useless and released the money to the seller as soon as.

I did get a sick deal even with that though, so not too upset.
