Looking to upgrade stock DT wheels (50mm depth fr and rr) on 2024 Aeroad. I want a wider rim that will work well with 30c or 32c tubeless.
Light Bicycle Airia wheels seem like a great choice – but tough to decide on which rim depths. They allow you to mix depths.
I live in a hilly area (mountain foothills) with often intense crosswinds and rough roads. Therefore not interested in going for too deep of rims.
I was considering 47mm front and 52mm rear, which would give me 25mm inner rim width fr and rr and work well with either 30c or 32c tires. Presumably 47mm on the front would be stable in high crosswind descending.
Interested in recommendations? Is 47/52 a good option?
Thanks

IMO you already have 50mm. So why another 50mm and not a 30/35mm ?
I love in France, in my area it is relatively flat so I use mainly my 50/62 ARC1400 but i have a pair of Lún Hyper 33 (35mm) and it is perfect for the Aeroad SLX8 in mountains (Alpes, Pyrénées). With this wheels, my bike is 7,6kg with pedals, wahoo mount and bottle cages! Crazy!
If you want something better in crosswinds you want a lower profile.
47/52 sounds quite reasonable considering the given options! I have 50s in the front and they are quite unstable with cross winds. Maybe consider something shallower in the front, if you are concerned with winds. I understand that the rim with is narrower with the 45s but 23.5 is perfect for a 30mm tire.
I would do the 47/52 combo.
