I am a total beginner and wondering if the TREK Marlin Gen 3's aggressive riding position with 2.4 inches wide tires suitable for bike touring? Are 2.4 inches the new standard? Won't thinner tires like maybe the 2.20 inches wide have less rolling resistance? Also, the earlier Gen 2's geometry was more upright. Considering that, should I go with the Gen 3 or skip it?

I am not really comfortable with drop bars as a newbie and would much prefer a front suspension. Please help me out!

If you’re doing rough off roading and can strap all the gear you need to it, yeah it’s fine. If you’re doing tame trails and need more luggage space, another bike is best

Wider tyres are great for more technical trails, for smooth trails you can go with 2,2 or 2,3.

Might be a good option for something like the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route
