Backpacking in Portugal with my nephew Jorge from Lisbon to Faro. We travelled by train with our Bikes from Aveiro to Lisbon where we began our journey. We attempted to follow the Eurovelo 1 route where possible. It was an amazing trip and we enjoyed every minute.

Lisbon it is start Point beautiful day our way to cash guys nice and leely just got off the train to miss all the fires and we’re going to head for an hour and a half down to cash guys have dinner head back towards lisbourne then get the ferry across Camp up and then start again tomorrow speak to you [Music] later got the Coss in the background [Music] [Music] [Music] now [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] day two heading towards setubal another ferry that we have to get when we get there had a really chilled start this morning got out a bit late added coffee charged a few bits but it’s all going right George on me right yes now we’re going a little bit Offroad into the forest it’s been burnt a little bit but uh it’s about 31 K to go to the ferry so we’ll see how we get on with the forest route cycling through the fires they’re well gone been and gone but just shows you the damage it does look it’s a real shame real shame everywhere you go look turn right yeah we’re safe here we checked before we came through but just shows you the devastation there still Parts smoking where the guys have been putting out the fires but the whole of the north of Portugal at the moment is is literally hundreds and hundreds of far was [Music] two challenges today out through the woods Rocky Roads we made it last little bit check out morning good morning good morning day three heading off to C just to get coffee breakfast blah blah blah and then uh nice easy day today we did about 88 kmers yesterday so we’re uh going to take it easy and enjoy it today we need to charge all our stuff getting a bit low we need to do washing all the clothes are getting a bit smelly so joys of camping eh [Music] just getting into s [Music] now oh good just [Music] n [Music] [Music] [Music] morning day four just leaving our campsite heading towards s and going to hit the old car so Joy behind me Friday [Music] baby got a bit of a croaky uh voice this morning don’t know why not drinking enough George in the background we stayed in this nice little house in a little small village in the bottom of the old G not far from sages last night treated us El to a bed and a and a proper bathroom and with a kitchen and so forth so ready to reset so um yeah update start off day five keep you posted see you later oh on our way to sagis going to get to sish and guess what we’re going to have a sish probably two sish do Sur Asia p foror it’s a nice Road not too busy you out there George yeah going strong so here we are made it to sagres did about 20K nice and easy this morning from where we stayed last night so we’re at the Fort which is right on the edge of the Atlantic where it meets the med on the tip of the elar so I’m just going to in the background behind me and George that you can see the for if I pan round got sages in the background how cool is that catching a bit [Music] right guns [Music] out George riding top this off the Salma come on she leaving sages behind just eating had a really nice meal actually George had the old uh Becka The Salty Fish and uh I stuck to a bit of chicken and salad another biker what that [Music] six all sorts of VES but always starts like this and as we get through get a bit easier nice looking forward to B so good morning good morning we have started just leaving Sela we’ve started on again the Euro route bit of landscaping and uh we’re heading to Lagos to see some nice Coastline hopefully so we 10K in halfway to Lagos just coming through this beautiful scenery that’s how I look at this just got into Lagos just going through these beautiful courses golf few more cyclers here this area is just beautiful it’s going in look Justin Holding Out for me oh look at the fountain this place is absolutely stunning very glamous super clean refreshing we’ve decided to pull over take a break take a dip Justin here taking it all in scenery here is just beautiful [Music] good morning well we’re ready we had a nice rest day looking to uh go over to uh pyal from Lagos and then uh Alber so Uncle jtic good morning in morning day s yes day seven just a bit of scenery here people leaving Lagos just going through the golf courses ocean views ocean just there golfers must love it little bit of off-road in here not always smooth safe in but the scenery always [Music] top yeah [Music] oh [Music] [Music] morning day seven as George said earlier uh We’ve ridden about 25k of varied surfaces it’s quite a steep hill in one place but we’ve reached um py M on prior the Rosia and I tell you what it is absolutely beautiful as you can see in the background George is taking in the view as you can see there people walking on on the beach the Sea’s clear the sun’s about to break through so we’re really looking forward to today we’re going to have a spot of lunch in uh the marina and then uh do another 30 odk maybe 40K to Elba feda spend the night there anyway let going right catch you in a bit [Music] here we are back in had some rough rides but not too far not too long rough rides now it seems like we’re up up nice and high sky is coming out clean and clear smoke too soon oh SP this is pretty much how the r is it’s on and off on and off with these rough roads this one’s not too [Music] bad back in little bit bumps on the road but we’re up nice and high the breeze is hitting us which is nice it’s really hot part of the [Music] day you can see the sea in front of us it’s always a nice motivation just made it down to the bottom from the top of the mountains this is called Palm Beach Uncle Justin flowing through afternoon just pitched up camp in El feda last night we’re camping I’m going to be getting to f tomorrow about 40 odk and uh that’ll be it going to probably stay in a hotel have a beer celebrate getting this tour done but thought I’d just show you a typical campsite setup there uh George’s tent there bikes normally PID lock around a tree and my setup here just having a bit of a final tidy up but yeah there you go good morning last day the last day day eight we are El bueda heading to pharoh got George in the background good morning good morning 44 km so nice easy day actually weather’s good it’s raining up north putting out the fires that’s good as well looking forward to completing the ride today hopefully no d [Music] [Music] Mama we’re happy this morning we can see the finish line [Music] almost out ala going towards V Mo and uh it’s really nice Ro here nice and warm lots of orange trees not so smooth and not too many Ys this is leading us right down to the coast still guys strong on good dust stop Marina last time [Music] [Applause] so we made it to vura and just look at this place it’s just amazing it’s just amazing there you go wow what a cool place lots of money floating about here and it keeps on going take the next very exciting stuff we’re almost there almost there and to finish it off lovely bike route and uh it’s just great to see the finish line in front of us [Music] [Music] this got [Music] he [Music]

  1. Thanks guys. I ‘m planning to do Porto Faro this summer by the same route.
    Quite nice and easy, right ? Gravel bikes ok, or did you hit some heavy sand trails which would have required mountain bike tyres?
