For a little context, I have no car and no way to get this to a repair shop. I have been researching online for over a day and I can’t find any information about why this would be happening. I would love any suggestions on things to try to fix it.
This is a mooncool TK-1 folding electric trike. In the video, I am turning the throttle. It is moving the gears around, but the wheels do not move. It makes a terrible noise. Pedal assist, non-power pedaling, and engaging the throttle all do not move the wheels.
Additionally, the rear brakes do not work.
All of the gears appear to be in order (still where they’re supposed to be). I don’t see anything else obviously wrong with it, but I am a complete novice at this and have no skills in how to fix it. The motor also seems to be working, but it no longer engages the tires.
I’ve only had this trike about two months and it has less than 300 miles on it. Yesterday morning, I was going down a slight hill that was very bumpy and I had my hand engaging the rear brakes. All of the sudden and the brakes gave out and the pedals would no longer work the wheels.
It was my main source of transportation in the small town where I live.
I would appreciate any help to get me back on the road! TIA
Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

Looks like you snapped an axle.
I would guess that your rear axel is broken.
Axle or freewheel/freehub has broken. Which doesn’t suprise me, as bikes like this are specced with the absolute cheapest components you can buy. There’s a reason that decent ebikes cost a lot, I honestly believe spending sub £2k on an ebike is asking for trouble and you’ll end up with a piece of junk that doesn’t work in a years time
axle or hub is probably toast – kind of a unique setup so hard to tell what is going on there
Not to be a jerk here but this sounds like you bought a garbage internet bike and it’s performing as expected. Since it’s so new I would encourage you to seek a return or warranty. Get out of this contraption before it continues it’s certain endless problems. Seek out a quality bike. Ideally from a shop that can service it or provide warranty coverage.
Hi. Bike mechanic here, Most trikes use what’s called a key (usually a small piece of metal bar stock) that fits into a groove in the axle and a grove in the collar that the freewheel mounts to, if that key somehow worked itself loose it would cause this exact situation. If the collar is spinning but the axle isn’t that’s most likely the issue.
