Young French Tourist Disappears in Iran
Don't like to put anything stressful here but I'm quite sad about this, every traveler seems to say Iran is one of their best travel experience by bikepacking or hitchiking, and a 18yo boy from my country suddenly disappear there while bikepacking. I kinda fantasized about Iran and even though I know some tourists had problems there due to "potential spying", I can't deny that having this young without news freaks me out for my projects…
The worst in this, is that SO MANY PEOPLE (on internet ofc) says it's well deserved because everyone's know Iran is dangerous. It's just a child. Even if he was 30 yo, 40 or 50yo it's still terrible. There's a real problem of empathy in our societies.
What do you think about this ? Also the people that have experience in this country.

That’s really sad. I’ve been to Iran about 15 years ago and it was rather safe place, but since the tensions raised I would not go there. I just hope this guy will return home quickly.
Damn going there only 18 years old is so braveā¦ I hope he somehow returns
The reason people are harsh on him is that he didn’t just choose to ignore the risks, he boasted about doing so, effectively encouraging others to do the same. I don’t think anyone would have wished this misfortune on him though
French gov. says Its strongly recomended to leave the country and that if you are leaving should call the Ambasy. And different warning Published on the 10/1/2025 Iran is pursuing a Policy of Taking western HOstages and targeting French nationals of Espionage. French nationals are not Advised to Visit and those who are there already should leave Immediatley.
If you travel looking up your govs page. Everytime not just countries that could be Dangerous.
Still Its sad. And I hope he is “just” lost. Not Gone. And I wish it to noone that want to go there that something like this happends. And People saying its “deserved” are wrong and Assholes.
