Hi everyone,

I am intrigued by the Canyon Defend Fast Fenders (https://www.canyon.com/en-de/gear/accessories/bike-accessories/fenders-and-mudguards/canyon-defend-grail-fast-fenders/10012900.html) and have not yet seen a similar system which is not plastic.

(If anyone knows an alternative, let me know).

My question for you Guys ist If these fenders can bei used in any bike? What are the prerequisites?
Obviously you should have the necessary mounting holes.

Canyon provides special thru axles as the fenders are mounted on the thru axles. These are made by DT Swiss.

Can these thru axles be used:

  • with any rim?
  • with specific DT Swiss rims?
  • only with proprietary DT Swiss / Canyon rims?

Anybody got some info in this?

  1. The axles have the very, nigh on universal measurement of 12×100 at the front and 12×148 at the rear.

Most gravel bikes use these measurements so the axle length and thickness will work. The one thing that can be different is the threads. These should have a thread pitch of 1mm, as the work on a aluminium Grizl and it has that thread pitch.

Take out your axle and see if there is any writing on there.
