Yes, but any bike can be used as a bikepacking bike.
I see absolutely no reason why it cannot be! Especially with the bags available these days, racks made by companies like Tailfin and Old Man Mountain, this should be easy and fun too.

Absolutely.
I’d probably toss a non suspension fork on it. But I wouldn’t stress over it either way. Other than that get some bags and racks and have at it.
