Stages come and stages go and Lady Martinees probably wish the first three had just gone away. Stage four of the tour destination, the big guns were to be out in force. But the question, would it be a GC day? Would it be a day for the breakaway? Would it be one for the classics met? And possibly everyone moshed together in a grand finale. We couldn’t wait. Well, the last few riders have just been interviewed in the mix because I can just see Ram Evan Paul there just behind him. Matthew Vanderpool, everybody’s talking about today being a real classics finale. Certainly one for the punchers, but the GC rods are going to have to really look after themselves cuz this is arguably a stage that’s more technical than stage two with that steep descent. So still a lot of nerves in the Pelaton and a very very important day for the GC riders to not lose time on a day like this ahead of the time. So again a lot of tension in the bunch ahead of stage 4. It’s been a remarkably busy tour to France. Polka dots respendant upon the shoulders of Tim Valance who took it from Tally Bugattacha who was hoping today to nail down his 100th pro win. Stage four then destination Ru having departed Among the battle between the cathedrals you might say. Well, who was saying their prayers? Well, once we turned back north for our finale, that’s where the categorized climbs kicked in and some real walls to contend with. Not nice. And the alimmetry told you everything you needed to know about it. possibly 35 climbs in total. Well, they waved the flag and all of a sudden, guess who? Lei Martinez. If the tour offers up days of redemption, then this was one for him. He’d been blown away by the wind on the opening couple of days. And quite frankly, he just decided to kick up a storm himself. Off he went with the company of Jonas Abrahamson. They were joined by Thomas Gashinar from Total Energies and Casper Ascane who in the Jiro recently had done a great job of holding off the sprinters and denying them their fun. Would that be the case today? Well, the Pelatin were wary and in fact it was almost neutralized with a gap of around about 2 minutes for much of the day. Well, that meant that the King of the Mountains were inevitably going to fall for the breakaway. When the climbs began to be classified, the Jacqu and Catil climb indeed rose its head. Everyone else wanted to be in a good position for the foot of it. And guess what? Wheels were touched, riders went down. Not to the same level of injuries that we had the day prior. Nobody wanted a repeat of that. But the battles raged on amongst the breakaway. Eddie Martin hunting down polka dot jersey points. The sprint went the way of the break as well, leaving the green jersey of course on the shoulders of Mr. Miller. He came through to take the bulk of the remaining points ahead of Bill Gamay. But really all eyes were turning on the breakaway and that diminishing gap which well as the teams just got themselves into safety order almost. everyone within a team manning the pumps especially in tuda to get Julian Alfalipe who’ struggled with a technical issue at a very inappropriate timely Martinez continued his battle for polka dots we’ll see how that pans out in the remainder of this race meanwhile the GC teams were lined out and lovely Yui team Emirates really bossing it visma Lisa of course working for Yonas Vingo and a few other hopefuls as well having There indeed. Dreams dashed by yet more touches of wheels at a rather unfortunate pinch point there. Well, the pace was up when with just around 21 kilometers to go. The technicality of the course was being magnified for us and there was some gaps opening up most notably posted of course by the efforts of UEI team Emirates. They absolutely on a mission lined out to help Tally Bukatcha who is given to helping himself on occasion and Yonas Vingo has become extraordinarily dynamic this year. Well, hanging on there. Rocoal not wanting anything to slip from his grasp. Sadly, it looked that way for Ben Oconor today having been caught out by one of the tumbles. Well, the climbs went to the climbs dissipated. But of course, the finale itself extraordinarily tough. Everyone knew they needed teammates around them, but it was the principles who were bossing it. It looked at this point like it was going to be a GC day. Would that be the case though? The road snaked. It bucked and ebbed as well. It was a phenomenal day of racing in absolute glorious sunshine for much of it. Look at that. Vingo, Pogeta, Revco, Venipole, they were all there and gunning for it. And why not? And when that 15% punishing incline came, we were worried for many. But we didn’t have to worry about Tally Pagache. He was in attacking mode. And likewise, Jonas Vingo went over to his back wheel. Now, would this be the moment that Pagacha left everybody including Vingo behind? The yellow jersey went backwards. What would the gaps be at the end of the day? Well, there was a gap that started to open up between Pogata and Vingo, but Vingigo was in wrestling mode. Absolutely superb. Looked back, saw the gap, knew it was all down to him. Vingo, he had to basically press go and get back to Patcha. A phenomenal effort by the two leading lights of the sport. The KM points came meaning a polka dot will be worn by Talibaja for the time trial. That the least of his worries. He wanted the win. Question is would he get it? There was so much talent hovering around. Who would it go to? Matthew Vander Paul was not out of it either. This was amazing. GCman versus Classicsmen. Time for the battle to commence. It’s Al with the lead up. But here goes Macha Faul. It’s the top riders again. The best three in the world. They’re at it once more. It’s Faul, but this time Patcha is coming around. Patcha is there to the line and Pi joins the 100 club in the land of another tour. Great Jac Pugacha continues to construct his own legend. Thank you. An absolutely remarkable day and a remarkable rider who has taken this victory and done it in the world champions stripes. For him, it doesn’t get much better than that. He will be in polka dots for the time trial, but a smile says it all. We’ll get you van Paul Vingo on Gregoire your top five. [Music] I tried with an an attack the second last climb. I mean the last climb and then uh yeah uh Yonas followed me and uh then everything come together and draw and uh yeah he did such an amazing job to lead me out until the very end. even if people were attacking. So, I’m super super happy and proud of the team today. Uh amazing. Uh yeah, I’m just without words was such a nice victory. Number 100 100 victory in your career and you do it all to the post. What a symbol. Yeah. Uh to win at the tour is incredible in this jersey even more. And uh to to have a 100 victory, it’s uh it’s amazing. Yeah. Match one. Napole still leads the race in yellow. It’ll be a yellow skin suit for him tomorrow in the time trial. Terra is a king of the mountains man, but he doesn’t mind that. And we don’t mind either because this year’s tour of to France is proving to be one of the alltime classic editions. What’s on the cards tomorrow? It is 33 kilometers of the race of truth against the clock. A loop around C. Will it be tough? Oh yes. There’s so much at stake. Most notably, of course, a yellow jersey. How will it pan out? Nobody quite knows in this race. Totally unpredictable, but absolutely beautiful for it. We look forward to your company tomorrow.

Van der Poel gifted that one to Pogačar. No doubt he will get paid back later in the race.
