Went on a non-cycling holiday to Slovenia last year and instantly knew I’d have to return on two wheels!
Cue five days of Very hot cycling in the North West of Slovenia. Made our own route as we weren’t interested in the excessive climbing/gravel associated with the oft-recommended West Loop route and its variants.
Loads of brand new/immaculate cycle lanes and paths, an abundance of public water sources/clean rivers/lakes and stunning scenery made this a really memorable trip.
Essentially we followed/hopped between a few different rivers and lakes. We had planned for six days of cycling, but the heat and unrelenting sun saw us take a rest day and extra night at a beautiful ‘tourist farm’, followed by one slightly easier day.
Can share route and camp spots for those interested 🙂

I love cycling in Slovenia…. the whole country is so clean and tidy. Drivers respect cyclists. Slovenians really take a pride in their homes!
….((( its hard to believe Slovenia is a former Yugoslavian state when you compare and contrast cycling here compared to the other former Yugoslav states )))
