Hey,

I need some help choosing between bikes. I've recently entered into the sport and have been obsessively researching, but am realizing my lack of knowledge is making it hard to pull the final trigger.

I'm down to the following:

Devinci Django

Commencal Tempo Ride

I would have gone for an Ibis Ripley AF but I can't find a large in stock.

I'm a medium frame 5'8.

Thanks so much for your help!!!!

  1. Tons of great bikes in that bracket.

The Devinci is a bit different in terms of geo compared to the rest of the lot. Steeper head tube angle, higher bottom bracket. It might be a better choice for technical single track, a bit less at home on really steep descents and bike park days. The build kit is also a bit worse than the other bikes.

Between the two Fluids, I’d just get the carbon one. Very similar builds besides the fork. I’m not really familiar with the DVO on the A2. Sounds like they make a good product, but I’m not sure how it easy it is to find people that can find service it. If you can manage to find a deal on a 2023 A2, you might get an amazing price on a really good bike. (Same frame). The Optic could be worth a look as well for a short travel bike that can handle pretty brutal stuff.

The Marin has the best components and best “value”. It has a carbon front triangle but a heavier coil shock and burlier fork so probably offsets it. The coil shock is the odd part here. Could be sought after if you intend on bringing this bike a lot to bike parks and the like. Biggest issue is you can’t just change air pressure to tune stiffness.

The Commencal is really comparable to the Fluid C3.

Might help make up your mind if you have a specific question or give more info about the type of ridding you’ll be doing.
