Hey all — I’ve been chasing down an annoying creak on my Brompton that only happens on every right-side pedal stroke, as the pedal moves downward. It even creaks when I’m barely putting pressure on it.
Here’s what I’ve already tried: • Oiled the chain • Lubed the rear hinge • Checked, tightened, and loosened the frame clamps • Inspected crank bolts and pedals
Still no luck.
Interesting clue: when I stand and pedal, the creak seems to disappear.
That makes me think it’s not drivetrain-related, but maybe something flexing under seated load? Pentaclip is tight, rear triangle is oiled? Maybe something with the suspension block? Sounds like it’s coming from the bottom bracket area but hard to know exactly. The fact that it happens on every rotation at exactly the same place even without torque to the drivetrain has me scratching my head.
Would love to hear any theories or advice. I’m stumped.

Could be a pedal bearing would explain why it goes away when you put pressure on it. My advice whip off the pedal lift your bike up, rotate the crank and see if it’s still there.
crap on pédal ! remove clean and grease, my guess only on removable one ?
Your gears aren’t set up correctly. See if it happens in all gears and if not adjust it. My t-line made the same sound when new. I just adjusted the gearing
I had the same issue on the quick release pedal. You can probably twist it to make the creak. I asked the mechanic at the junction and they said it is normal for the QR pedal to develop the creak, he recommended putting some grease or lube on it and being careful so you don’t get dirty when removing it
Edit: adding an old video of the issue I mentioned: https://imgur.com/a/NqWSywM
