Hi everyone,

as we figured: Bromptons should be everywhere – and that includes online spaces – we started a small community over on the Fediverse:

### [!brompton@discuss.tchncs.de](https://discuss.tchncs.de/c/brompton)

(It technically is a “Lemmy” community, but you can follow and interact with it from your Fediverse system of choice, e.g. Mastodon, KBin, …)

We are a very small group at the moment, but we aspire to be as lovely and interesting as /r/brompton one day. πŸ˜‡

If you wanna be a voice for the “best folding bike ever” on the Fediverse, feel free to join us.

Have a good one & keep on folding!

  1. I’ll be honest, I’m getting tired of the enshitifcation cycle and FOTM social media.

I’ve avoided Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Discord, and more…but Reddit drew me in because I kept ending-up there (thanks Google) and then I found nifty little clubs, then I made an account to participate.

Not sure I’m ready to leap to yet another platform only to see it go down the shitter in a few years. Probably stick it out here at Reddit as long as my fav subreddits stick it out. But once they spread to the four winds I’ll be less inclined to track them down again. I don’t want to use Reddit for one club, Client Y for those, and Client Z for these others.

Maybe it’s a good thing that I go back to “look for info only when I need it” and then use the freed-up time for other things.

i’ve accounts on most social media platforms, old and new, it’s because of curiosity how the platforms differ from each other rather than the content they offer. reddit is simple, straight forward, low maintenance and reliable. good luck with your new community! as a freshly minted brompton owner, i’m too busy getting to know my new wheels to try to remember yet another login. lol

  3. thanks for this – when the sub went dark, I missed my ‘fold’. πŸ™‚ Subscribed!

  4. An easy guide for iPhone/IPad people:

    1/ Download Memmy
2/ Sign up for an account on lemmy.world
3/ Find all your regular communities (Brompton included)
4/ Participate, and rest comfortably knowing you are doing your bit for a decentralised internet
