Hi everyone!
Next year I’m leaving Treviso (nearby Venice) on 12/04 and I’m doing this tour.
The yellow number should approximately represent the months I’m taking to reach each spot. (I’ll be really slow I know)
Mid May: Andorra
Mid June: Gibraltar
Mid July: North of Spain
Mid August: Lyon
I’m starting to worry about the heat waves, here in Italy the last weeks have been terrible. Crazy humidity and 40°C+.
Does someone already cycled around Spain on that period?
Is it possible to deal with the heat?

Yeah it will be crazy hot , try to cycle mornings and afternoons that will be fresher and just relax at midday by the beach or something. At least that’s what I do, I also travel as slow as possible
If it’s a repeat of last few years, you are looking at a very hot French section, but the temp will be lower on the coast theoretically. Northern Spain could be quite thunderstormy, some friends were getting hail and 30c on same trip.
Depending on your daily mileage, very early starts and being prepared to ride into twilight hours.
Just make sure you have plenty of water carrying capacity and wear a UV hoody + sunscreen.
I have now ridden that area twice and as long as you can stay hydrated and prevent sunburn you will be alright.
You might want to choose a day of rest or two on the extra hot days when you’re in cities as those conditions can cause ozone levels to spike (and mess up your lungs for a week afterwards) but that’s also a great excuse to just lounge around town and explore. Deep breathing is the biggest issue for that and that’s what you will do when riding.
Some parts of Southern France can have zero shopping options for some very long distances so I was often carrying 3+ L of water. A GPS with water spots on the map might help.
If you want to get the most out of their trip, I would plan it so that you can do most of southern Spain in the Spring. Perhaps that would mean taking trains or a plane to Barcelona. But if you ride through it in the middle of summer, you may be miserable and may miss a lot.
Also what the hell is Monaco di Bavaria? Is that Munich? THat is the coolest name I have ever seen for it!
If you stick to the coast you probably manage 5-10° lower but still pretty hot indeed
