Hi all,
2 weeks ago my girlfriend and I went on a spontaneous bike ride. 50k half road half gravel. It was really fun and we'll be doing it more often now.
I've been looking around for bikes for the last few weeks, as I'll soon be going back to the office more often and would like to cycle the route in good weather – it's about 8 km each way.
I'd like a light, fast bike for the road, gravel tracks and forest paths. But I also do want some comfort – so an absolute racing ergonomics is not preferred. Clean optics are preferred.
I have test ridden a bike with a drop bar. It's not really for me.
I won't do bike packing in the future and I do now about the differences between carbon and aluminum.
I currently have the following bikes on my shortlist:
– Rose Sneak 2
– Cube NULANE C:62 SLX
– Cube NULANE C:62 SLT
– Canyon Roadlite CF 9
– Scott Matrix 10
Is there anything why you would choose the one over the other or anything why you woudn't choose one of these? Is there anything "hidden" in the specs that a newbie can't see?
And of course I do try to test ride them (already drove the Sneak) – but this is getting complicated to find a dealer near by. So I may could cancel 1 or 2 with your help.
Thanks!

Don’t give up on drop bars they are much more ergonomic and give you multiple positions to move around
Respect for doing 50 on a citi bike, once you get a proper bike that fits you and has quality components you’re going to have the time of your life!
I’d get the C:62 SLT because I like electronic shifting. I’d recommend to other people to get the one that feels better to ride.
I would check out more drop bar gravel bikes like the Rose Backroad or the Canyon Grizl or even Endurace that fits your budget as drop bars will be more comfortable as you get used to them. Get the right size and you will find that the multiple hand positions are a boon. You can do longer trips on these bikes as you might find yourself really getting into biking.
If you just want a no nonsense commuter that will get you comfortably to places with no maintenance then I would suggest getting a belt drive bike like the Canyon commuter 7 and the like. No greasing or oiling the chain and since the gears are internal there is no maintaining gears either.
