- the moment we crossed the border! I love Flanders, the people, the food and the architecture but the difference of road infrastructure is real when you cross the border and the countryside is so much prettier in the NL.

- The crew, minus me, on a gravel path, in western France, near Laval. Two of us carry a mounted sensors measuring air temperature, ground temperature, humidity, etc.
. The data coupled with heart rate and body temperature sensor will be used for research.

- every two days or so, we stopped in a city and set up a participatory scientific meeting with local volunteers who were asked to attach small white sensors (see photo) on their bike and download an app on their phone to take measurements while cycling in the city for 45 mns. Data was later compiled and results shown to participants!

- Eric and Clau, two volunteers in Alençon, Normandy, joining for our participatory science measurements. Clau is partially disabled and Eric, her husband, carries her around for strolls and errands on their special bike.

- a photo of us, after we reached Amiens, Picardy, on the hottest day of our 10 days trip. Loved being back in that region where I lived for a year, a couple years ago.

- the city of Arras, Northern France. Another personal favourite.

- Antwerp, the last big city before our final destination, Rotterdam. A mind blowing display of architecture and engineering: we crossed the Escaut river via a nearly 100 year old, 500 m long and 34 meters deep tunnel.

- a letterbox and a « boite à livre » in Picardy.

- we spent a considerable amount of time trying to fix one of the two sensors which kept freezing and rebooting.

- me, standing besides the Mayenne river on a sunny morning, followed by intense heat in the afternoon.

- me again. It was my first long trip (10 days in total, 750 km). The last days were hard, my muscles were sore and I couldn’t sleep enough to recover well.

- in the harbour of Antwerpen. The city was a beautiful blend of Flemish Gothic architecture and modern engineering, harbour facilities.

- one of the first cities we stopped by during our trip: Laval, in Mayenne, France. A beautiful little town where we had our first « thermo party » – participatory science measurements with locals

- my camping setup: a tarp with a foam mattress and an inflatable one. Worked great, it was very lightweight and inexpensive.

- Alençon, a quaint city of Normandy, packed with beautiful buildings. I could just bikepack in France for my entire life. So many beautiful places
