I bought a used Specialized Work 01 today for 200$ usd. I’ve read the bike is great for city commuting which is my plan for it. Does anyone have any experiences with this bike? Any upgrades or tweaks that could be made? I’m curious if drop bars are possible. Also let me know if my price was good, I couldn’t find what they retailed for but I figured a clean Specialized for 200$ most likely isn’t a bad deal.

Triple crankset os hard wit STI levers. There simply aren’t many that accounted 3 up front. Might find Claris, sora or tiagra levers that work for that. Alternately bar ends are a thing, but they get fickle above like.. 8 speeds
Other wise , the geometry might be slightly wonky with drops. Probably fixed with the right stem though.
Brakes might be a little challenging too. V BRAKE and sti dont mix great. Mini cantilever should work, but it’s fiddly.
So long short, drops should be possible, but it’ll cost a bit, and it may not be a great conversion
I can’t comment on the bike itself, but 200 for a big brand bike in good shape is generally a good deal, but only if the bike fits
