So basically I haven’t cleaned the bike for a couple months now so I figured I’ll spend some time disassembling the pedals, the cranks and the chain to do some proper inside cleaning and torquing everything back up to spec (bike was creaking like hell when pedaling on my last ride). Long story short, I’ve cleaned and assembled everything back together, but I’ve noticed that the crank bolt says to tighten up to 38-45 NM which when I do the crank becomes hard to spin – hopefully it’s clear from the video. What am I doing wrong? I’ve greased the spindle before inserting it in the BB, so I don’t think it’s a greasing issue. What am I missing?

Did you put any spacers back in correctly? Possible one is missing so when the crank it tightened it’s compressing the BB

  2. It can be couple things. From my experience it’s either bearings that are worn or pre load nut. Disassemble it once again. Make sure bearings are running smooth. Then tighten the pre load nut slightly so the mechanism is stable.
