Hey there, thank you for any insights. The rear derailer hanger snapped on my wife’s specialized road bike so I ordered a new hanger off of Amazon and tried to mount it myself. The bike now operates fine and shifts smoothly but I feel like the derailer is a little closer to my rear sprocket than before. Does this look mounted correctly or do I need to adjust something?

Man, don’t show your bike upside down.
Was the shift cable always that long? It looks OK, and if it’s shifting as it was before, I’d say send it.
All you need to know about adjusting a rear derailleur:

That little screw with blue threadlock in the middle of pic 2 should sit on a tab on the hanger. The mech should not point downwards but straight back. So you should remove the derailleur, see the tab on the hanger, and install so screw meets the tab.
Idk if my pic helps.

Edit: I think I was a bit off with the angle, but as long as the screw sits on the tab it’s good.
Looks both upside down and misinstalled to me.
The B-screw arm tab isn’t hitting the tab on the derailer hanger. It needs to rotate counterclockwise (clockwise if you’re working on it upside-down).
Looks upside down to me. Should work but you might get a headache
Yes
For a moment I thought this was the biggest r/BicyclingCirclejerk post I have ever seen. Then I noticed the bike was upside down …
