Attention for the start of the first stage of the 112th edition of the Tour de France. Here we go for this 112th edition of the Tour de France. Here we go for three weeks on the roads of France , and exclusively in France. For three weeks, we will live to the rhythm of the stages, to the rhythm of the exploits. 21 stages, as many winners, a yellow jersey at the finish on the Champs-Élysées. There will be exploits, there will be stories, stories within history, legendary stages. We hope as few as possible, but there will also be falls, dramas, there will be records, joys, tears, laughter, tears. There will be debates, we may not always agree, but what is certain is that for three weeks, we will experience this 112th Tour de France together, intensely. Jacky Durand and Steve Chesnel to accompany you in this sweet month of July. The race leader, still cruising with a 2-minute , 16-second lead. There’s a good connection between Benjamin Thomas, Mathis Le Berre, Mattéo Vercher, Jonas Ruch, and Bruno Armirail, with some serious riders, obviously, Jonas Ruch, the German, but we’re also thinking of Bruno Armirail, the French time trial champion. Thomas, who’s trying to anticipate, maybe a kilometer from the summit , to surprise everyone. But Ruch, watch out for Ruch. He’s powerful and never gives up. The Intermarché Bruno rider might try a move from behind. His only chance is to attack from afar. Come on, he goes for it and off he goes. Matis Le Berre saw him, obviously. Matis Le Berre, who’s going to immediately take Bruno Armirail’s wheel. The two Frenchmen there, from the AG2R teams, the World Cup, for Mattéo Vercher, it will be a little too difficult, too steep. Bruno Armirail, he’s still in front. Will Mathis Le Berre be able to come back? He’s strong, Bruno, but look, Jonas Ruch, as we’ve said, he’s not the type to give up, even if there are 5 or 6 lengths to make up. He’s smart, Verchet. For the moment, Mattéo Verchet, who is riding perfectly, is gently making himself forgotten, letting the foot of the climb pass. Yes, even Benjamin Thomas. That’s smart. He’s lost length, but we mustn’t forget that. Very narrow road. Behind, it’s going to be very nervous to approach this Grand Prix de la Montagne. Bruno, he understood, Bruno Armiral, his only chance of gleaning the point of the mountains was to anticipate. But we saw that Matis Le Berre knows him well too, took the wheel straight away, so it’s going to come down to a sprint, it’s a given. There are only five of them, Bruno Armirail… No, who did I think was going to take off again? Look, the gears, come on, Mathéo Le Berre. He’s finding the opening because he’s going to have to find the opening. He’s done cross country, he can go through the grass. Thank you, Le Berre, Thomas, Armirail and Ruch for going for the first point in the mountains classification of this 112th edition of the Tour de France. There’s a jersey to be won, there’s a podium to be won tonight on the island for the one who has the chance to react to the best climber’s jersey. Benjamin Thomas who launches from far away, more than 200 meters from the summit. Benjamin Thomas who will be able to go for it. It’s long, it’s very, very far. To attack the sprint more than 200 meters away. Yeah, for now, it’s holding. Mathéo Verchet is making his comeback. Ruch Armirail finished Mathis Le Berre, finished. It’s going to be between Mathéo Verchet and Benjamin Thomas. The Cofidis team at home in the north of France, who will go for the first point in the mountains classification. Benjamin Thomas was forgotten at the foot, he let them do it and he comes to the front at the top of this first climb of the Tour de France, gentlemen. Yeah, it was really watching this whole climb. I think the fastest, like I said it before, it was him. It was Mathéo Verchet, but Bruno Armirail, he understood well, by hardening at the foot, attacked, Benjamin Thomas did not want to sprint over 100, 150 meters, because he knew he was perhaps beaten by the current of the Total Énergies team. Whereas there, watch out, it is no longer Quinn Simmons, it is no longer the Alpecine team there, things are getting tense and there, it is obviously becoming very interesting with the rise of the UAE teams, the rises also of the Visma Lisabike team to all the riders who want to be placed in the general classification. Those who are playing for the final victory on the roads of this 112th Tour de France are at the forefront because wind is forecast and because we are arriving on these exposed parts. One minute thirty for the coaches. To tell you the truth, gentlemen, earlier, when I said the seven, eight riders who can… Shh, back! The first one! The first crash. Filippo Ganna. Ouch, ouch, ouch. If it’s the Italian who’s there for the team, Ineos Grenadières. The first.
Filippo Ganna is caught in the first crash. Filippo Gana, who is one of the five riders who came to the Tour to win a stage and join the circle of stage winners in the three Grand Tours. Filippo Gana on the ground. How did that happen? We didn’t see him on the inside of that straight bend. Never a good thing to fall first. As you said, unfortunately, this may be the beginning of other crashes. Will Filippo be able to restart? I think so. It seems so. Afterwards, at what level? That will be the question. Will Filippo Gana be able to continue the adventure? I’m thinking tomorrow in particular. I think we’ve still put everything into it… Another crash! Another Bissegger. Bissegger. Bisseggerer, the rouleurs. Then, Filippo Ganna, the Swiss rouleur from the Décathlon AG2R la Mondiale team, is the victim of a fall here. Stefan Biseguer for the Décathlon AG2R team at the Mondiale, who might take a chair to sit on for two minutes. In the meantime, his car. Chairs kindly lent by the public present at the side of the road. Where did it hit for Stéfane Biseguer? You said it, the falls that will accelerate now, certainly and unfortunately, palpable nervousness, the crossings of villages, everyone wanting to be placed. It is of course felt in the gap which is now only one minute ten between the peloton and the five leaders. He’s breaking. There are riders who are taking breaks. Already some breaks at the back of this peloton. Jacky, who’s going to turn up the radio tour a little to get the bibs of the distanced riders. The 55th. Julien Alaphilippe, who’s fighting? Lenny. Lenny Lenny Lenny Lenny
Lenny Lenny Lenny Lenny Lenny
Lenny Lenny very, very good news. Yes, Lenny. Lenny. For the stages. His goal is to go for stage wins. Is that all? The general classification, Jacky, will be for Santiago Buitrago. The more time he loses, the more freedom he’ll have, as you wish. Afterwards, doing 110 kilometers unleashed on a flat stage isn’t the best either. He’s going to come back. He won’t be alone, I think. He’ll find some company. He’s there, Lennie. Lennie. Lennie. Lennie. Lennie. Lennie. Lennie. Lennie . …
That’s a little more surprising when you know the French rider’s form. Oh the wind, oh the wind, oh the wind. Look at the peloton. He’s not just 25 miles an hour. The peloton that will be catching up with the leaders in a few moments with 105 kilometers to go. Breakaway, finished for Jonas Ruch, for Mathis Le Berre, for Bruno Armirail, and for Benjamin Thomas. The adventure had already ended a little less than 5 kilometers ago. For Mattéo Verchet. 98 kilometers from the finish, the intermediate sprint of the wood bike. You can see here the points that are up for grabs. 20 points for the first to cross the line, 17 points for second, 15 points for third. And like that, for the first 15, things are already getting busy, with Kaden Groves on the right who will lead the sprint to Jasper Philippsen. Bryan Cocard is indeed there. We also find Hugo Page, who is there for the Intermarché team to bring Binyam Girmay and Jonathan Milan into second place. Jonathan Milan, who will make his effort. Bryan Cocard in pursuit. Jasper Philippsen, who cannot pass, is forced to sit back down. And it is Jonathan Milan who will go for the first intermediate sprint with Yesper Philippsson, Binyem Guirmaill, and Brian Cocard in pursuit. He did it again. He’s off again. I’ll let you continue talking about this refereeing, in particular, which will inevitably get people talking. Meanwhile, Matteo Verchet is off again. Mattéo Verchet, who got back to the front of the race, is unfortunately on his own. For the moment, his company, Mattéo Verchet. It’s better. To go for the point at the summit of Mont Cassel. It’s true, climbing Cassel alone is not bad either. 93 kilometers from the finish, Benjamin Thomas joins Mattéo Varchet. We find two of the protagonists of the start of this first stage at the front of the race. Benjamin Thomas and Mattéo Varchet in the lead. Matéo Varchet, Benjamin Thomas, who is enjoying this crowd bath. The public has responded, obviously, at this Mont Cassel. We are 79 kilometers from the finish. Things will accelerate after that. There remains a finale that promises to be eventful, of course. A finish in the city center, never easy to negotiate. There will be another difficulty to overcome, but if Benjamin Thomas takes the lead here, at Mont Cassel, he will be assured of being the best buncher at the end of this first stage of the Tour de France. There are people, there are a lot of people. The peloton is closing in, but it will work. 500 meters. Mattéo Varchet who, like a chaser, will take advantage of Benjamin Thomas’ slipstream . Yes, he will try to go there. Benjamin Thomas turning around, who’s already made a lot of effort. But be careful, it’s a little less tough at the finish line, we’re still on… We’re going to be on small cobblestones. Mattéo Verchet is faster in a short sprint. He tried to push. Benjamin Thomas, there, on the cobblestones, now, it’s almost flat. It’s going to be cobblestones for the last 100 meters. Intelligently, Benjamin Thomas, he didn’t insist. Benjamin Thomas trying to close the door slightly. And it’s Mattéo Verchet who’s going to pass. Mattéo Verchet who’s going to take the lead. There’s a bit of a rear wheel pull, but it’s going to be enough. Watch out, won’t Benjamin Thomas jump him on the line? The crash! Terrible! The crash! At the top of this Mont Cassel and the peloton arriving in about twenty seconds now. Behind Benjamin Thomas and Mattéo Varchet. Yes, throwing a bike is fine on asphalt, but throwing a bike on cobblestones is not the same thing at all. It was really Benjamin Thomas’s throwing his bike that threw him off balance. Tomorrow, everyone has to slow down. We’re going to ask the front of the peloton to slow down, obviously, because there were quite a few bikes. There was a traffic jam behind the two leaders. When you’re in the peloton, when you see the two riders crashing to the ground, you say: What did they do to us? They really played it, this Grand Prix de la Montagne. It was discussed. We’ll see what happened. Benjamin Thomas’s rear wheel. It’s the bike throw. You’ll see, he’s going to throw the bike, he’s obviously going to lose a bit of grip and it’s going to completely throw him off balance. With his front wheel, he’s going to hit the bike and Mattéo Verchet’s front wheel, dragging the two men to the ground. First unusual image. And Mattéo, obviously: What did you do to me? Lenny’s not doing well. This isn’t going to work. There’s a problem. There’s a medical problem, certainly, for Lenny Martinez. This is a big blow for Lenny Martinez. Who’s going to score a point? Vingegaard? No. Or Pavelle Sivakov? 200 meters. Or Valentin.
Be careful, don’t throw the bike at the top of the mountain Grand Prix, please. There are fewer cobblestones. It should be okay. There are no cobblestones on this black mountain, unlike Mont Cassel. Look. Romain Grégoire is there too. Vingegaard, a point. A point for Vingegaard. Discreetly like that, a small point. Is the plan there, perhaps? The plan is there. Look, Mattéo Trentine who’s going to come and ride too. Why not try to overtake some riders? Look, the Belgian champion, Thim Wellens, is vigilant with Tadej Pogacar in his wheel. No problem. Is he scared or what? He’s very nervous, Vingegaard is doing damage, in any case, with Durbridge on the other hand, there’s one I was surprised to see at the front, it’s Enric Mas. Enric Mas, he’s there in the first positions. Distanced from the peloton, Jacques Stuart, who must have had a mechanical problem. He’s catching up with Alexey Lutsenko. Yes, but there, look, there’s a small break. We’re going to find about forty riders. There, it’s breaking. We’ll have to hurry to get back under the impetus of the Visma team , we have a plan, Jonas Vingergaard told us. I don’t know if the plan was to try to trap people from today. Maybe, we just wanted to ensure a final with fewer riders. We’re trying to eliminate some of them already. In any case, it’s well played since there are only 16 kilometers left. It’s certain that this attempt to get past the finish line 80 lanes would have made no sense. There, we managed to put a wrench in the works with a change of direction. There’s a race, finally, in the finale of this first stage of the Tour de France. Evenepoel. He was scared. Who had a scare. He’s behind, then. He’s in the group behind, since he’s in the group Tim Merlier two interesting cards, Binyem Guirmay, of course. Oh the fall behind, in the last positions. No, in the lead group. O’Conor. Yes, at the back of the lead group. There’s this 5 kilometer rule. They recredited the time there, but O’Conor who falls. Yes. Is it Van Den Berg? Oh dear, with the sun behind. 38. Bib number 38, it’s Marin Van Den Berg. Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, for the stage victory, it’s over. For Van Den Berg. At the back of this leading group, it fell very, very hard. He took it with him in his fall. Ben O’Conor, second in the last Vuelta. And Abrahamsen, under the red flame. Be careful with that small wave when Johanessen moved away. Keninck’s Alpecine team now, who will take things in hand. We’re having a picnic. Who’s having a picnic? Is it Bittner? Did Bittner manage to survive this completely crazy end to the stage? Advantage for now to Keninck’s Alpecine team with Mathieu Van der Poel, who still leads Mathieu Van der Poel in first place. Paul Penway well placed. Côté. Advantage still to Keninck’s Alpecine team. There’s one teammate left, Biniam Guirmay, who’s going to pass now, who’s going to make his effort, the Eritrean. Jasper Philipsen who launches his sprint. Jasper Philipsen to go for the yellow jersey, Anthony Turgis who makes his effort. Paul Penouet too, but Jasper Philipsen is the strongest. Victory for Jasper Philipsen. Biniam Guirmay, he couldn’t do anything. It’s the Belgian rider from the Alpecine team who wins well, led by a very, very strong collective. Behind, we’ll try to limit the damage. There, we’re going to have the gap on the line. It’s sprinting for the lottery, it’s rubbing while there are no more points. There are no more points, gentlemen. Jonathan Milan who will sprint for honor. was unlocking himself a little, reassuring himself, but obviously, it’s a big disappointment for the Italian from the Little Trek, for Arnaud De Lie too, who comes to seek a place of honor. 40 seconds lost, notably for Remco Evenepoel. A royal sprint crowns Jasper Philipsenn. So yes, the train, it wasn’t where we expected it, that is to say in the last kilometer, but less than 10 kilometers from the finish, when there was the break, we saw the pilot fish like Mathieu Van der Poel and Kaden Groves sacrifice themselves.

Hot Wheels: Benjamin Thomas did his best Kevin Cogan impersonation (see 1982 Indy 500 start) w/ Mattéo Vercher portraying Mario Andretti.
Congratulation Philip and their team as they played amazing game. In contrary, Biniam’s team is almost dead in stage 1 and what were their strategies and plans in this game?
