Now the biggest event in cycling is here. The 2025 tour to France begins on Saturday in Leil. It will be the 112th edition of this iconic race. The race will begin with the Grand Part in Leil and culminate at the Shan Deise in Paris after 3 weeks when a champion will be crowned. The world’s best road cyclist will tackle 21 stages, six of them through mountains in a bid for the iconic yellow jersey. As for the contenders, all eyes are on two men, Tare Pogucha and Yonas Wingugo. Pogucha remains the enters the race as the defending champion. Last year’s title was his third overall to France crown and he enters this year’s race as the man in form with several wins under his belt this season including the criterium duo which is seen as the main tuneup event for the tour to France. Yeah, I think um the last five years were quite intense between me and Jonas and the others as well. Um yeah, I think um yeah, great uh competition rivalry and uh I think this year is uh more or less the same like the last couple of years. And um yeah, we’ll be interesting to see if uh we can uh exchange it again or not. But uh yeah, you never know with the new guys coming in as well. And uh yeah, somebody can surprise.
Now Pogar’s main rival is expected to be Denmark’s Yaso and Go finished second behind Pogchai and the Dufang as well as last year’s tour to France and won the tour to France in both 2022 and 2023. But his participation to this addition has been hampered by serious injuries. However, he believes he’s stronger than ever before. I think for sure I can say that I’m I’m stronger than ever. Um, of course, last year I was also very on a very high level in the Trudy France, but it was in a different way. I uh had a lot less muscles. Uh, but I was also a lot lighter. So, of course, I’m more heavy now than I was last year, but it’s it’s muscle and and we know that it gives a lot more power as well. So, yeah, I can say that I’m on the highest level that I’ve that I’ve ever been. Um, and then we’ll just see if if it’s enough or not.

  1. Just here to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable accuracy of the anchor's pronunciations (even if she sounded like she was thoroughly bored with cycling)
