Hello all, I’m building out a single speed dh bike and the chain tensioner I bought (shimano alfine) recommends a 9 speed shimano hg chain. Will this work with a 12 speed narrow wide sram chainring without and skipping?

9sp chains internal and external widths are too wide for a 12sp n/w chainring. Expect poor chain retention and inconsistent engagement due to mismatch in tooth profile and spacing tolerance…
Tldr; Chain fits loose, teeth dont grip, and before you know it… yeah you get the point.
