Hey folks. Check this out. My first ride on the parking slot near my home. Tried to do bunny hops, manuals and fakies from a wall. Scary as fuck.
Please share any tips for a first month of riding. I plan to do that about 3 times a week. Also Iβm not in a good shape – IT guy, work from home, donβt visit gym at all. Want to do bmx as funny exercise kinda))
And any tips for how to improve my bh? Film myself more in slomo and share with someone experienced? I donβt have anyone around.
38yo my first BMX, first ride. Will this always be so f*ng scary? π¬π

Oh, and forgot to mention. Itβs WTP Trust CS 2025, TT 21, Iβm 6β3 (189cm)
I rode on and off from my late teens into my early 20’s. Always been on something with 2 wheels my whole life but just got back into bmx after I had a kid and wanted to get him into it.
My best advice is just ride a lot, have fun, stay safe. Also I’d suggest doing some workouts daily. Push ups, pull ups, lunges, squats, all that kinda stuff.
I had surgery and health issues last year and it took me down 50lbs. Its taken me a whole year to get any of my strength back. That first pull up felt like it was going to kill me. Now I can do sets of 10 and I do several per day.
practice jumping onto things by way of tucking your knees.
your legs are straightening on that attempt.
if this is your first Time ever riding a BMX, especially at 38, you mostly just need to ride around for a few months. lifting your front and back tire over cracks or potholes. Riding off curbs while straightening out, riding up curbs without casing, etc.
Youβre doing fine kid. Just remember to have fun, eventually what youβre doing now will feel as easy as walking.
