Friend of mine races nica but is also looking to doing local enduros too so hes been eyeing this hightower for a minute, to me it looks good other than some scratches which is fine, he hasn't messaged they guy yet so we have no clue what the service intervals look like but at face value is this a good deal?

Probably good for Enduro but not what you want for XC stuff like NICA. It looks good and the X01 is always fun to see but I would get a list of XC options to compare to.
For $1800 I wouldn’t. For one, the description reads like it was written by AI, which is at the very least kinda lame, and at worst scammy. The bike was poorly cleaned for pictures designed to market it for sale, it just looks dirty and old, which usually means maintenance hasn’t really been kept up with, and the geo is going to be outdated from a racing perspective. It would be fun to ride still for sure, but if the reason for getting it is to be able to race, there is likely better and more capable options somewhere else.
If it was like $1300 or less maybe, but I’ve found similar bikes with nicer parts for less money around me frequently.
