After much research, I chose to purchased a pair of Lake CX239 wide fit, white & black road cycling shoes in size 41.5. I was absolutely blown away with the comfort and extra power these shoes gave me. The cleat is about 20mm further back than my old cycling shoes, and the difference is mind blowing.

[Music] [Music] hi guys welcome back and thanks again for joining me on my ride today well today I am trying out my new shoes yes I finally got some new shoes and some new cleats i went for the Lake CX239s absolutely beautiful shoe i really really do like them yeah these are a 41 and a half or a 7 and 1/2 um in wide and they are so comfortable guys seriously so comfortable i’m so used to my feet being squashed up in a narrow shoe i tell you what makes them feel even more comfortable it’s the fact that my cleats are positioned further back what a difference a cleat position really makes i’m probably about 20 mil further back than my physiques i’ll show you a picture and because of that new positioning you feel like you got a lot more power yes so these are absolute beautiful shoes i was so nervous about getting them cuz they were quite a lot of money and uh was sat in my living room with them on for hours and hours watching TV you know doubly making sure that they was okay cuz to be honest they didn’t feel comfortable at first um but the more I wore them the more comfortable they got so uh yeah ripped the stickers off cut the tags out and stuck me cleats on and now they’re mine yeah so I’m going to carry on and testing these new shoes so as usual guys let’s go and see if we see anything else interesting on today’s ride yeah it’s a really weird it’s a really weird feeling um with that cleat back i can’t believe how much power I feel like I’ve got it’s just so responsive now yeah if you do change your shoes and your cleats do go back lower your seat down a little bit guys i’m finding it I’m finding this position extremely comfortable yeah the old throttle control bike nice little remote control grass cutter there guys i must admit he’s done a nice job with putting the stripes in the lawn over there like a drug deal going down didn’t it come out to get his stash [Music] [Music] yeah you know when you got a decent pair of shoes on because uh you can’t feel them yeah for sitting in the uh living room with them on for a few hours over a number of days and it’s first maiden voyage wow I’m really impressed yeah so these are the CX 239s um the latest version obviously the uh ones before that was the CX238s um which were also very very popular apparently got raven reviews how wonderful there guys beautiful like these uh new shoes I’ve got god I’m so pleased with them i really am just beautiful guys it’s just cycle paths [Music] everywhere yeah i uh wasn’t meant to be doing this route today meant to be doing a road ride but guess they forgot their water bottle on this nice sunny day hot sunny day yeah me so I’ve got to stay close to [Music] home 3 2 [Music] 1 go [Music] yeah it’s lovely to see so many people out cycling canoeing walking jogging the birds are singing and I got my new shoes on happy days yeah these shoes are so comfortable for me yeah I’m not saying they’re going to be comfortable for everybody because uh they won’t be but with these being a wide foot shoe really has given my uh feet room to uh well it’s not squashing my feet anymore so it just feels so much more comfortable on the toes on the base of the foot it really does and that um that lever is only going to get softer and uh these shoes are only going to get even more comfortable if that’s at all possible so remember guys if you do push your cleats back remember to lower your saddle slightly yeah to compensate it like I said my cleats must have went back about 20 mil uh compared to my old ones but the comfort the power the just the feeling just everything just feels so much nicer yeah my feet feel so much more comfortable now especially with um right fitting shoes coming down a half a size i’ve always worn a 42 yeah that’s made a big difference pushing the cleat backs made a big big difference i’m so thirsty yeah look at my knee guys so so much uh neater now yeah my knee feels so much nicer today yeah I haven’t gone very far to be fair i’ve already done about 13 so I’ve run 14 15 miles by the time I get home it’s a big thumbs up from me for these uh Lake CX 239 cycling shoes i absolutely love them they’re so comfortable and uh I’m glad I got the wide fit they have made a huge difference and obviously with the cleat going further back wow what a difference that makes to your cycling guys anyway until next time keep smiling and riding and hopefully I’ll see you soon bye for now bye-bye bye heat heat [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

Before I got to Lake, I tried every wide shoe from Shimano, Specialized, Diadora and a few others, not of which were wide. My first Lakes, I sized up and found they were too big. These are shoes that actually fit without the size up. The wide is wide which I love. They are not cheap, but utter quality. Mine are leather to (black) and I treat them to a good rub down with Dubbin every few months to keep the leather in good order.

Harvey did you trust the lake sizing on their website or do they fit true to normal shoe size ?
Can't beat Lakes ( as recommended by Bike Fit James ), sized for real feet, not like many other brands. Lovely in white as well 🙂

I had 238s 4 years ago, built on the same last as 239s, after using shimano wide fit shoes.
The difference in comfort level between them is crazy. The lakes out of the box are just so much more comfortable.
Unfortunately only git to use them 5 times before having an accident at work injuring my neck and haven't been back on my bike since.
Maybe after next operation next month will fix that, sitting on an upright exercise bike drives me nuts, even watching shows on TV.
Not the same as getting out and about getting some fresh air into your body.
Good luck with your shoes, like others have said they get more comfortable even after a couple of rides.
I had the 238's but for my birthday i thought the id go for the 242’s with the carbon rear which is used before so it's slightly better and imo are better for really wide feet! 👍
