My daughter’s Trek Neko was stolen from her dorm this year and my plan was to replace it with a beater that nobody would see as worth stealing. While at an estate sale I found this old, neglected Giant Sedona for $30 and said, “I have parts for that!”

I had to pitch everything but the frame, forks, and handlebars, but it cleaned up ok I think. I had to buy $130 in parts (most of that went to the new BB and crankset), and I converted it to 1×9 and V-brakes.

I’m worried it doesn’t look like enough of a beater though. In fact, I think it looks really cool. I told her to put stickers on it and maybe I’ll wrap some electrical tape in a couple places.

(Sorry about the non-drive-side before picture.)

Nice. I spotted the same frame in my hometown a couple weeks ago, unfortunately all beat up and rusty. Love the paint job.

Also, good choice on Vuelta rims. Very affordable and a nice selection of v-brake rims too. Also, you don’t see the spoke patterns very often. Considering to order a Quattro-Set for a Diamondback Ascent.

I’m sure your daughter will love the bike.
