South and South Wales Division 1 League Match.
[Music] Good afternoon. We welcome our visitor. Hello Martin. How are you? Great.
Good. Beautiful day. It is a bit warm. team of all world guy their captain riding at number five. Give a welcome to Liing number two in the Newport lineup. Adam Bennett. At three is Ryan Jones and his partner at four is Dan B.
Well, that was quick. At number six for Newport today is Chris Davis and the reserves Harvey Yard and Yard. [Music] As you can see, they’re very well in the lead. a number of a powerful lineup of riders here today and uh they’re in the hunt for league honors and the way they’ve been growing so far in the earlier part of the season, it looks as if that uh aspiration may well come through as the new riders to get back to the pit from our regular spot today. But nevertheless, we got better riders ready to do battle. Without further ado, let’s introduce them with their captain riding at number three, Greg Rosski. Running number one to his partner is Aaron Lang. Number four is Alexi. and five Ollie Zondo running number six today Jamie Randall and our two reserves today father and daughter Joe Chapman and Ava Chapman Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Everybody [Music] ready? [Music] [Music] So, here we go for heat one. And we have on gate one Ben Mole from Newport, a former British champion and world champion. He’s elected to gate gate one. On gate three is Adam Bennett. And electing to go off gate two is Fose Langu. And on gate four is Adam Lang of Pool.
So here we go. in the first heat of this South and South Wales match. Start all mold away from the inside gate having a look across to his right. Langu in second place, Bennett in third and Bennett seems to hesitate and Lang is up the inside and that’s a five for Paul as it stands with Mole out front. Bennett coming inside. Lang forcing his way through. Makes a little bit of a mistake. Langi lets Lang around and it’s Adam Bennett still in fourth place. So Ben Mold he is away with Adam Lang second pulls for Rose Langu in second and Adam Bennett in fourth position. One lap to go. Mold still leads Lang second. Langu in third and Adam tailed off at the back. So that is a five score five. And we start off with the draw race for each team with Ben there. So here we go for heat two. Paul Comets will lining up on gates one and three. And representing them we have Lexi Curtis who seems to be sliding into gate three and pools Polish representative Greg Kakovski he has gone on to gate one Dan Bot making the decision he will represent Newport off of gate two and Ryan Jones off gate four and the tapes seem to go up a little bit premature there and they’ve gone up prematurely again and obviously today’s weather is very very warm and maybe that is having an adverse effect on the electromagnets that work the tapes. Obviously these are electric so it just seems to be a little bit of an issue but hopefully we will get race two underway. Glacos off for one, Dan Boach off two, Lexi Curtis off of G grid three, and Ryan Jones off gate four, and the tapes have gone up. There’s definitely an issue. Hopefully, this is just a temporary issue with the tapes, but that doesn’t look temporary.
Weather is starting to
Okay. Ready. We have the tapes working. Hate two. Koska for one, Tanok two, Curtis three, and Ryan Jones. A decent gate off of gate four, but it’s Greg Lakovski in the identifiable yellow crash helmet there. Up and away. Jones in second, Bop third. Lexi Curtis taking up the fourth position. And certainly this race looks as though it’s pretty much over. Rossi is going to cruise to the four points. Jones in second place. Lexi Curtis certainly pushing Dan Boach for the two points. But that is the way they’re going to stay. This is the last lap and it’s going to be Greg Glowski of Bull taking the win. And the progressive scores are 410, Newport 10. Here we go for heat number three with the Newport pairing on gates one and three. Chris Davis has come to gate one. Jamie Randall for pool on gate two. the veteran Lee Galley and he is on gate three with Oliver Saunders lining up on gate four. There still seems to be an issue with the starting tapes. Obviously, as I mentioned earlier, the hot weather may be causing an issue with these tapes, but they seem to be staying down now as we get ready for heat number three. Davis off a one, Randall off a two, and the tapes have gone up again. And this is to be quite infuriating. The one thing these riders do not need is any distractions. Um, especially at the start,
I think so. And if the tanks are malfunctioning, then that is always going to cause an issue. So, I’m going to take a break and hopefully they can get these tapes sorted. You can do if you want. Here we are for heat number three. And hopefully those tapes are sorted. We have Davis off of one, Randall off of two, GI off three, and Oliver Saers off of gate four. And they’re away. And it’s a pretty even break. Sanders comes around the outside, but it’s Chris Davis away in front. Randall in third and Lee Gi in fourth position. Chris Davis, Oliver Saers coming up the inside of And that’s a great pass by Oliver Saers. And Rand comes through as well. That’s a great piece of team riding by Oliver Saunders. Lets him lets his team partner around the outside and that is in to a 73 for Paul Davis now. struggling in third and league gally at the back. This is a great ride and teamwork for the pool comets. Jamie Randall takes four points. Oliver Saunders great team riding by him to get his partner through and that is a 73 to Paul brings the progressive totals to Paul 17, Newport 13. On to heat number four now. Paul are on the inside gates. Gates one and three. Uh Fose Langu with the red crash helmet. They’re lining up on gate one. Ben Mold of Newport on gate two. Joe Chapman on gate three. And Harvey Yard gate four. And the riders are ready. And the tapes have gone up and causing an issue. still a problem gone. These
things happen very rarely, but uh they do happen. It’s extremely hot. Hopefully the track staff can get this sorted pretty quickly. Are we ready now? Are we ready? Ready. Yes. Well,
trouble sorted. Here we go for
the restart of heat number four. Tapes are fixed. Langu off of one, mold off of two, Chapman off of gate three, and Harvey Yard off of gate four. Aggressive totals are 17 to ball, 13 to New. And Mold has failed to get across Langu. And Langu is up and away. And this will be a strong test for him. Chapman at the back. Harveyard in third place, but Mole certainly chasing down the pool youngster. He’s having a look up the inside. Changing tack Langu having a quick look. Mold around the outside. Langu taking him a little bit wide. Now he’s away. But this is Mold’s chance. One lap to go. Mold’s thinking about it. Is he going inside? Is he going outside? Language just seems to be powering away. And Mold has made a mistake. And that has given the four points to the bull youngster. Well done Vanu. That’s a fair old scalp to take off Ben M. Former world champion. He’ll be happy with that. Third place goes to Har. Fourth place goes to Joe Chapman. That’s a 5 to now lead by 22 points to 18.
Good race. race of here at Harborside.
Apologies here. We’ve just missed the start of this race with Adam Lang and Ava Chapman for Paul. Adam Bennett and Andy Yard for Newport. So here we pick them up. Just coming out the second corner with Adam Lang in the lead. Adam Bennett in second place. Andy Yard, third place. A Chapman in fourth position for Paul. So it’s Lang leading off of gate one. And Adam Bennett pushing hard in second place. Andy Yard in third. But it’s Bennett having a look inside and outside. Adam Lang and he’s going to make the switch. And he’s into Adam Lang. And he’s made the pass. He’s pushed in wide. Will Andy Yard be able to take second position? No, it is still Lang in second. Adam Bennett. Good race from him taking the four points. Adam Lang second and a yard and fourth David Chapman aggressive scores 26 Newport 24 onto heat number six and we have Pool’s pairing of Jamie Randall and Oliver Saunders these two first time out scored a 73 against the Newport pairing and uh they are off the inside gates in this one so with Ryan and Jones off of gate two and Dan Bop off of gate four. This is Paul’s chance to add some more points on the board. Randall, great gate. Oliver Saers up the inside. This is another 73. These two are a superstar pairing now and they are away. Ryan Jones in third place, Adam B in fourth. There it is. Jamie Randall showing speed and Oliver Saunders really looking after his team partner. And this is another 73 to the Comets with Brian Jones actually coming back at Oliver Saunders. Oliver Saunders looking over his shoulder. He’s looking over left and he’s looking over right to make sure it’s not going to cause an issue. But that is the way it’s going to finish. Randall four points, Saunders three, Jones two and Faul coming last for the one point. Superb.
Another maximum of heat.
On to heat seven with the scores standing at pool 33, Newport 27. So there is six points between the two sides at the moment. and Newport have the inside gates in this one with Chris Davis off of one, Lee Galley off of three.
Aaron Lang off of gates and he’s moved at the start as Aaron Lang. He’s just fallen over to his right hand side. Obviously, I’ve haven’t mentioned the fact that we have no tapes at the moment. So, they were going on the start uh at the order of the referee’s whistle. So one sharp whistle blow and they would race away from the tapes. Aaron Lang has incurred minus one point from moving at the start.
There is a little bit of leniency obviously when it comes to a whistle start but uh Aaron Lang seemed to tip over to his right hand side which isn’t actually a moving at the start. So he’s being penalized by minus one. So here we go. Davis off of one, Lang off of two, GI off of three, and Fose Langu off the outside. It’s a rocket ship start by Fose Langu off of the gate forward. Davis slots into second with Lang into third and Lee Galley at the back. What a start that was from Fez Langu off of gate four. Went on the whistle and he’s now cruising off to the four points. It looks kind of tasty for second place. Davis bobbing and weaving in front of Aaron Lang trying to get his team partner through. Lee Gi in fourth place at the moment. Lang looking over his right shoulder to find out where his opponent is. Davis still in second place. Aaron Lang is going to secure third place. And Lee Galley in four. Aggressive totals. Pool 38, Newport 31. So, here we go for heat number eight. We’re lining up as Gregski and we still seem to have an issue with the tapes again. Greg Wakovski for pool is on gate one, Adam Bennett off gate two. You can see Curtis off of gate three and Ben Mold off of gate four. And it looks as though the tapes are causing a serious issue once again. They are very sporadic. One minute they’re working, next minute they’re not. And the referee Tim Balding is obviously explaining now that they are going to have to go on one sharp blow of his whistle for starting. Always an uncomfortable situation, but uh that’s the way it is. They’re not working today. The tapes and away. And it’s Wowski into the lead. Mold around his outside Bennett in third and Lexi Curtis in fourth. Will Mold now be able to take away the four points from Greg Rosski because he’s buzzing and he’s made a mistake. Won’t you make a mistake on this bull track uh in with the dry surface at the moment? It’s so difficult to come from the back. Uh so it’s Greg Kovsky now on his last lap. He’s in the cruise of four points. Ben Mold taking up second position. He’ll take three points. Alan Bennett two points and Lexi Curtis in fourth position for points. That was a five all. The progressive total is now a pool 43, Newport 36 onto heat number nine. the one just before the interval. And obviously, we’ve still got issues in this very hot weather with the starting tapes. The referee’s just telling the riders that they are going to have to start on one sharp blur of his whistle. For Newport, we have Ryan Jones and Harvey Yard. And they’re on gates one and three. And on gates two and four, Oliver Saunders and Joe Chapman. The scores are at the moment pool 43 and Newport 36. So this is a crucial race for Newport if you want to get back in touch with Paul just before the interval. This is heat nine. Ryan Jones off the start with an excellent style of a sauners into second place. Third is Harvey Yard and fourth uh Joe Chapman at the moment. Uh so Ryan Jones is certainly showing a turn of pace here. Oliver Saers right on his back wheel and he’s going to have to pull out all the stops if he wants to make the pass on Ryan Jones. That’s lap two. We’re into lap three and Oliver Saers still has to make up those two or three bike lengths. We’re going into the last lap. It’s still Ryan Jones. Oliver Saunders is there. He’s going to have to make a dive bomble or make something count on this last corner, but it’s know it’s Ryan Jones. Well done to him. four points. Although Saers takes second place for three points onto heat number 10 with the scores at pool 47, Newport 42 in this race. Obviously the tapes are working now which is a good sign. They’ve had time during the interval to fix them. Jamie Randall unbeaten off of gate number one. Dan Boach off gate number two. Ava Chapman off of gate three. and Har with Andy Yard. Sorry, not Harvey. Andy Yard off of gate four. This is another important race for the Comets. And Jamie Randall has made the start. Andy Yard comes around off of gate four and slots into second place with Danbok in third and a Chapman fourth. But it is Jamie Randall absolutely flying. He certainly has got to grips with this pool track. He certainly knows it inside out and he is leading by at least five or six lengths from Andy Yard. This is going to be a five all for the Comets. They’re into their last lap and this is going to be bringing the progressive scores to Pool 52 and Newport 47 with a great win by Jamie Randall. Well done to Jamie. Excellent race. on to heat 11.
And in this one we have Chris Davis off of gate one, Greg Grossy of gate two, Lee Gy off of gate three and Lexi t off gate points makes the start puts Chris Davis relatively on the center green unsatisfactory start. So we’re going to have to restart this one again. Made the decision to restart it and Graoski does exactly the same and he’s even slower. A bit of an odd one that one. Gets a rerun in the first race as Chris Davis. And in the second one, it’s exactly the same, but is now away. Will lead in third. In second place and Chris Davis in third, Lexi Curtis bringing up the rear. Great gate by Greg Glowski who now is cruising into his last lap. Lee Gallian second place. just in third. Lexi Curtis fourth. This is going to be a five all to the Comets. We’ll bring the progressive scores to Pool 57 and Newport 52. Here we go for heat number 12 for the Comets. On gate one is Fez Langu and Aaron Lang off of gate three with Ryan Jones off of gate two. and his team partner is Dan Boach off of gate four. A pretty even contest this match. Uh it could go either way really, but this is a really important race and Dan Box seemed to not come off the start. He catches Aaron Lang completely unawares and slots into third place. But it’s Fez Langu out in front again doing really really well making the start. getting out front and obviously powering away. Ryan Jones is giving chase uh with Danok in third place and Aaron Lang at the back. Karen’s had a really really good meeting so far, but this is going to be his first last race of the day. And that’ll be another five all. I think that’s the sixth of the day so far. The positive total for pool 62, Newport 57. On to heat 13. Newport have the inside gates. Ben Mold off of one and Adam Bennett off of three. Oliver Saunders off of two. And the flying Jamie Randall off of gate four. And away. And it is mold. And oh, the Saunders looks to Bennett, gets the right elbow across him and puts him on the deck. I think we’ll be having a rerun for that one. All four riders. So, here we go again for the rerun. Okay, run through the lineup. Ben Mold off of gate one.
Oliver Saunders off gate two, Adam Bennett off gate three, and Jamie Randall off of four away. And it is Mold who leaves no right elbow from Oliver Saunders this time. Mold slowing it up at the front. Jamie Randall at the back. Alan Bennett in second. So it is Mold. He’s up and away. And Randle up the inside of a Bennett. They’re leaning on each other. And that’s a great pass by Jamie Randall. He’s done it into third place. Oliver Saers now buzzing around. Ben Mold looking to the outside. Ben really has that one under control. Kami Randall now catching up with his team pile up. Oliver Wers up the inside of Mold but N says no you’re not doing that. A little bit of mistake from Oliver Wers and Rand takes him up the inside which leaves Oliver Wers completely open to the pass but he doesn’t make it stick. The progressive totals are 67 Newport 62. Very very close. Think that must mean the seventh fireball of the day by Ben Wald. Second place Gaming around third for the Saunders. On to heat number 14. Only five races remain. And this one is a crucial one for the Comets. They have Lexi Curtis and Joe Chapman against Lee Galley and Andy Yard of Newport. Pick her up. And it is Lee Galley who makes the start. and Yard is going to make the effort round the outside. Lee Galley does the team riding bit and allows his team partner to come around. One lap gone and it is Yard leading Lee Galley. Lexi Curts in third with Joe Chapman at the back and this is going to be a 73 for Newport. This is going to bring the totals to really close with four races remaining. One lap to go and there is going to be one point between these two teams going into the last four races. The scores are going to be pool 70 and Newport 69 as Andy Yard goes over the line. Here we go for heat 15. We have Newport who have got 69 points overall. They’re off gates one and three and pull off of gates two and four who lead the match by one point with 70. And this is another crucial race, but it’s Greg Rowski over the tapes go off that makes the start and gets across Chris Davis who slots into second with Harvey Yard in third. But this is Greg’s race. I can feel it. He’s done nearly two laps and the pressure is off. Chris Davis really is settling first. Second place, Harvey Yard. Have a look at a Chapman. A Chapman is not being outclassed today. She’s put in every single ounce of effort to help the full club today. She’s been thrown in at the deep end, but she is not disappointing. This is going to be a win for Gre Gregski. Second place, Chris Davis. Third, Harvey Yard and fourth, Ava Chapman. Here we go for a crucial heat 16. The scores on the doors are pool 75 and Newport 74. So, a real crucial race here with Ben Mold making the start of Saunders, Aaron Lang, and Dan coming together. And there’s a bit of a tumble there for both riders. Just a bit of a seem to lock handlebars or a little bit of loose surface that caused Aaron Lang to fall. The referee’s made the decision that it’s all four riders. Oh, and Dan Box made bit of an error there. Moved at the start. I think he knows it. And that’s going to be minus one point for moving whilst under starters orders. Yeah, he’s very disappointed with himself there. He knows
what he’s done, but they will regroup.
He will regroup. He scores by knows how close this match is scores. We’re only got one point in between them and this is a crucial one. Pool off the insides with Olive Saunders and Aaron Lang, former British champion Ben Mold off of gate two. Danbach knowing he has to make the start here really and get round his team partner so they can challenge Oliver Saunders and it’s Ben Mold that makes the start again. He gates over Oliver Saers and oh there’s a clash sounds like spokes to me between Dan and Aaron Lang again. So, another rerun of heat 16. There is a quite a bit of tension in this race. Oliver Saers off one, Ben Mold off two, Aaron Lang off gate three, and Dan off of four. Ben Mold’s made the gate over Oliver Saunders twice. Will he do it again? And it looks like he will. Saers tries to get his elbow into the ribs of Ben Mold just to give him a bit of leeway, but no. But Aaron Lang has made the start this time and they’re slotted into second which is good for the Comets is now looking after his teammate who’s having a look under Ben Moldy really in in control of this race. Dambo trying his socks off losing a little bit of ground. Ground turns one and two. They’re into the last race. One point separates these two clubs going into the last couple of races. Mold trying to slow the race down, get his teammate into contention, but it’s going to be a five all. That makes the progressive totals. Pool 80. Newport with a minus one for Dan B there. Makes it 78. Only two points in between these two going for the final two races. And it’s all to play for. 17. Newport have the inside gates. They have Ryan Jones off of gate one and Chris Davis off of gate two for Rose Langu off for Paul on gate two with Lexi Kiss on gate three. There is two points between these two clubs. Crucial race. Oh, and there’s a little bit of movement at the start and that looked like gate two and that’s going to make the scores even closer. So it’s a minus one point for gate two for O Langu moving at the start and
that is going to be very crucial. Oh, sorry. My eyes again [Music] comes up to one who made the error and has had one point take off his total score for this race. of the totals being at the moment B 80 Newport 78 going to lose one point of their total in this heat. So it is crucial that they get a heat advantage but Ryan Jones is going to be the first person to try and stop this away just gets across Ryan Jones and into the lead. He’s going to make up for that minus one, but it’s still going to be very close going into the last heat for Rose Lang who leads from Ryan Jones. Second place is Chris Davis and third fourth place is Lexi Curtis. Jones is certainly catching up with Fez Langu who cannot slow down or make a mistake going into the last lap. And it is Bar Rose Langu who is going to win this one. Going to make it a four points to P, five to Newport. Progressive totals are 84 to P and 83 to Newport. So this is going to be a last decider to go.
Here are the preparations for heat number 18. In heat number 18, we have got for Paul, Greg Kovski and Jamie Randall, who’s been absolutely flying today, as well as Greg. And for the Newport team, we have Adam Bennett and Lee Galley. And this is a last decider. The scores are Pool 84, Newport 83. And this is going to go right down to the wire. Here we go for the huge heat 18. Randle was moved at the start. There was a huge noise in the pits. Everybody heard it.
Terrible.
But it doesn’t seem as though the referee heard it because he’s given minus one to Jamie Randall. That is uh quite baffling completely. Everybody in the pits heard it. But there we are. That’s the referee. He’s made his decision. And we’re going to go for a rerun. Randall off a one. Kovski off two. Bennett off of three. Lee Galley from Newport off of four. Crucial heat 18. And it is Glacoski who makes the start from his teammate Jamie Rand in second place, Adam Bennett in third and Lee Galley at the back. And it is the Comets that lead and this will give them a fourpoint win. James Rand is on minus one on his total that he finishes with this race. But it is Gokovski in the lead. He’s going to take the four points. Adam Bennett needs to get past. He needs to get past both these riders, affect the race and get his teammate Lee Ali who is floundering at the back and that’s not going to happen. So it’s Govski leading round in second. This is going to put the points in favor of the Comets. They are going to win by 90 points to 86. What a race. Uh they did it at the crucial time. The Comets have come through. And Randall bring home the spoils. A little bit of controversy just before the final heat 18 there with a noise in the pits. The referee isn’t here, but that doesn’t make any difference now. And I can see on the faces of the Newport guys that they’re tad disappointed with their performance today. But it is the Comets that have taken the lead points here and Feroh’s Langu is definitely happy as is Dave Strong the team manager of Paul and that is quite a sensational meeting all the way down to Alassie Decider. The Comets go home happy. The Comets fans they go home happy. Jamie Randle and Greg Rosski definitely go home happy. The only team that’s not going to be happy is the new but they have put their pennifth in. They haven’t taken any home any league points but they have put on a performance well worthy of a great match. Pool 90 Newport 86 match has definitely had its controversy. Lots of moving at the start. Minus one points for certain riders. Uh a starting gate failure for at least a first half of the match. So they got it sorted for the interval. But it is pool that take home the lead points. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat.

Great sport – would love to see more of it
