I haven’t ridden regularly in 16 years. I rode weekly for a couple seasons with a group when I was 14-15, on a 2005 Specialized Hardrock HT. A lot has changed since then.
I picked up this 2017 Fezzari Nebo Peak for $500 from a high school coach who was clearing out. I really don’t know much of what I’m looking at. What do you think? Also, looking forward, what are your must-have’s?

you did well it is not an e-bike.
Looks pretty solid as long as mechanically good order, but if it’s a nica coash I’d assume it’s decent.
In terms of things you may want, you may want a larger range cassette as that looks like a SRAM 11 speed 10-42 cassette which is pretty narrow for modern standards unless you in really good shape.
Beony that, helmet, water bottle, gloves, eyes protection. Also some mtb shoes.
I’d also get a basic tool kit as well, shock pump, and floor pump for tires if you dont’ have one.
Wish I could pick up a bike with that spec for $500 😂 have fun on it. And yeah specialist tools are a must buy unless you’ve got money to burn at a bike shop. Fixing your own bike is like cutting your own hair. You may fuck up at first and need to go somewhere to fix it but once you know what your doing you’ll save yourself a hell of a lot in the long run.
i have a fezzari pretty solid bike. look at calling them or getting ahold of them and getting a derailleur hanger. nice to have one in stock in case it gets whammied
