Ngl why are truing stands so expensive, they are just a few chunks of metal seems insane

Do you need a truing stand? These are pretty good. You need to mount them to a base.

Yes, that is the absolute best deal you’re going to find one of these for. It’s less than the wholesale cost.
If you want a really nice truing stand, you should buy one.

I got one, and they gave me another 20% off. Now to find a good tension meter.

That is a good price. Cheaper than distributors (well, cheaper than base pricing at QBP)

I had one of these where I worked, very good if you’re truing a lot of wheels every day. I have access to a cheaper stand now and it’s pretty crap in comparison.

I mean as far as the price for this tool goes, great, and it’s a great tool… But I’ve always built my wheels just by using some tape on the fork or chainstays and as long as you don’t have the brake or derailleur getting in the way, it’s easy enough to flip them to check dish, etc. Definitely get a tensiometer you can trust, but if you aren’t doing a lot of wheels, I wouldn’t bother dishing out for a proper truing stand. It’s a professional tool for people who will do the work often enough for the convenience to justify the cost, and it’s priced like it.
