Hi all, I’ve been commuting on my 21” Jamis coda comp (~4 miles each way) for about a month now, and am not having problems besides feeling immensely slow everywhere i go. I am a novice rider, and am being passed by every granny, lime bike and other commuter imaginable. I know a lot of improvement will come with time but I’m also trying to determine if I bought a bike that was the wrong size/ fit for me and if i might be better off and have more fun with something else.
I am also currently training for a triathlon in August and would like to continue biking for exercise, which is exacerbating how slow i feel currently. I find myself constantly looking at road bikes.
I’ve found a 2014 cannondale synapse 105 for $400 with details in the photos. Is this a well priced bike for the components? Am i being dumb by considering buying a different bike for my situation? Should i tough it out and use the hybrid for my triathlon? I feel like I’m drowning in what ifs and options!
Just under 5’10 with a 33” inseam for reference.

This is a great entry road bike. Considering you’re looking for something potentially faster i think this is a great option. You could probably negotiate on the price a bit. Seems to be the right size as well.
If the bike fits you, that’s a good starting bike + good price. Buy it over the hybrid, you will enjoy it much more.
