I’m looking to buy my first nicer bike and was shown this used Trek FX 7.2 at my local bike shop. After some digging online, I believe it may be from 2009. It looked to be in pretty good condition and they fixed it up, but I’m a bike novice and just learning. It’s listed for $190, is this worth it? I’m looking for something that I would primarily ride on pavement but I would like to be able to ride on some trails too (dirt, gravel, etc.), pretty much just recreationally. The tires looked kinda thin to me, and I’ve only ridden crappy mountain bikes before. I’m worried it wouldn’t be able to handle anything outside of pavement. From what I can tell this is a fitness bike? So it’s not really a hybrid?
TLDR; looking for entry level nice-ish bike to ride recreationally, found used Trek FX 7.2 for $190 at local bike shop. Worth getting?

It looks like the bike is in great shape. It is a bit old. I think it’s a fair enough price. Thin tires are fine. They are definitely pavement oriented, but unless you’re planning on riding a gravel or mountain bike trails, they will do great.
Hybrid and fitness bikes are often very similar. A hybrid refers to a bike that is somewhere between a mountain bike, touring bike and a road bike. A fitness bike is usually a bike purpose built for light exercise. They often both have flat handlebars and upright riding positions.
You can definitely go and ride some gravel with this, but I doubt you can go much rougher. I don’t think downhill mountainbiking would be a good idea. Depends on how much you weigh. Also, the price seems like a good deal especially if they are offering some kind of warranty. Where I’m from any bike shop has to guarantee whatever they sell for at least 2 years
