Hi, I really need a bike that is compact. I live in a tiny apartment in CA with 2 roommates and the lack of space is always a limitation. So I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this bike. Is it a good option for a folding bike? It’s a hardtail folding full-size mtb with 27.5” wheels. Goes for $2,995

What do you need the bike for? Commuting, errand-running, recreational/sport riding? What sort of surfaces will you be riding on – pavement, dirt trails, crushed stone bike paths?
Personally, I would not buy that bike and I don’t think I’d buy a folding MTB in general. Note that the “folded” photos of that bike show it with front wheel and pedals removed – that’s a lot of work to do before and after every ride and that’s a wheel you still need to store.
When I lived in small NYC apartments I solved the space issue by mounting the bike to the wall vertically using a swivel mount so that a bike could sit closer to flush to the wall. It ended up having about the same floor footprint as a folding bike, just running up the height of the wall.
What’s your goal with said bike?
Commute around town or rip mountain bike trails?
That’s a bunch of money for something that looks iffy on anything but light bike paths.
If it were me and commuting is my goal I’d get a cheapo bike and lock it outside. 1990’s style mountain bikes or those English 3 speed style bikes can be fairly abused without much compromise to performance, work very well for around town, cost less then 100, and if it gets stolen you will not be too heart broken.
