I’ve just noticed a small stone chip on the underside of my carbon frame, just behind the front wheel where it looks like a rock might’ve flicked up. It doesn’t seem deep, no obvious cracking or fiber damage, just paint missing and maybe a tiny nick in the surface layer.
Has anyone dealt with something like this before? I know carbon can be surprisingly tough, but also unforgiving if there’s hidden damage. Would you keep riding and monitor it, or is it worth getting professionally inspected or repaired for peace of mind?
For context, it’s an older Trek Emonda frame. I’m not racing or anything, just regular road riding and training.
Any thoughts or similar experiences appreciated!

Unless there’s visible frayed carbon fiber or audible crackling/crunching when you push on the affected area, I wouldn’t worry. Nail polish or model paint works well if you want to cover it up
