22 is a bit different than 20” for park and street
Edit: im 6’3 and ride 20” wheels, 21.25tt, push stem maxed for rise, and 10” bars. You could also do 21.5tt
Get it! 22” is great, especially your size. 😀👍
Get 20″ wheels for street riding, I’m 6’7″ and have no trouble, just get a larger sized top tube frame and higher bars.
if you end up sticking to 20″ like people are suggesting, I just picked up a 2022 subrosa tiro xxl from planet bmx online for $250. I’m not doin anything too serious with it, but for price def worth checking out, may need a couple big guy mods for it tho, unsure.
22″ is nice for a big guy.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone run 22” wheels
For what it’s worth, I’m 6’2 200lbs and ride a 20”
21.25TT. But whatever works for you.
22″ make sense on paper because “next size up,” but even if you’re near the upper limit on a normal bmx bike (there are plenty of people, even professionals, your size who ride 20″ bikes) you should note that some amount of the part selection that supports 22″ bikes are a bit limited. most things are fine, but replacing rims and tires with something decent can be a bit difficult.
and, as a beginner, you’re probably going to go through a set of wheels learning to spin.
I’m 6’3” I ride 20”in wheels and a 21inch top tube with a top load stem and 9” rise bars. We are tall so we are going to look/feel big on a bmx. You don’t have to go as big as you think.
