Hi everyone,
I am restoring a 1978 Trek TX700 and recently lined the lugs with a gold oil based paint pen. I quickly found out that the paint very easily comes off when in contact with WD-40 and other degreasers. Does anyone know of a brushed on clear coat I can use that would protect the paint lines from degreasers, scratches, etc? I initially got the frame powder coated + had them add a clear coat on top before I went and lined the lugs, so I really only want to clear coat over my painted lug lines, not the rest of the frame (so I’m assuming that means any sprayed on clear coat for the lug lining is out of the question). I just purchased Testors Enamel Glosscote Top Coat, but wanted to see if this sub had any other opinions on what works best before I used it. Thank you in advance for any help!
