Looking to add a gravel bike to my bike collection. My goal is a nice carbon bike with good components that I don’t need to upgrade right away, and finding something my size used can be tough since I’m just about 5’5”.

I’d really like to get the Trek FX Sport SL 6 and spend the $ to have the electronic shifting and carbon wheels. Or do I just go used and get something for around $1k. I do pkab on riding flat bars.

See the used 2019 Domane SL5 Disc from marketplace, too. If I could get it for $1k that could be a nice setup and save the $2k? Or is it worth buying the FX?

Neither of these are gravel bikes, domane might work, if u really want a gravel bike get a checkpoint.

  2. I should say: I’m not looking for a gravel bike necessarily. But something that is a good all-around bike that will be used on many miles of paved trails, some gravel trails, and some dirt trails. Nothing that would be considered mountain bike terrain.

Flatbar gravel bikes are great. I don’t know about the FX Sport you linked to but you could put flat bars on a Domane and ride it with 35mm tires. 35mm is plenty capable – that’s wider than what people used to run in cyclocross not that long ago.
