I’ve seen ads for muc off brake covers to prevent contamination when cleaning bikes. Does anyone here use them? If yes, do you use them everything you clean bike or only specific times?
I got a set in a mystery bag from Muc-Off. They say to only use them when applying protection spray, as the nano cleaner etc are all safe for disc brakes. Only used them once or twice when I wanted to add a layer of bike protect to an MTB that had dulled paint.
Would never have bought them if they weren’t in the bundle. On a side note: the value of the mystery bag way exceeded the price.

I have some. They’re actually pretty handy. I don’t always use them though. If I’m working with oils, soaps, or tire sealant I’ll put them on. I don’t usually use them during a simple wash with plain water. Oh yeah, I’ve used them before while driving with my bike on the rack during winter in order to protect from road spray.

I used to use a piece of card board. then I got this platic piece that fits better off aliexpress for like $4 (theyre more expensive now, prices of everything went up for tariffs).
Its not really necessary, it just makes it s little easier to clean my chain and derailleur on the bike without really needing to be too careful about spray getting on rotors/pads. I would not pay more than a couple bucks for a product like this. You could cut up an old plastic binder or something and it would do the same thing
I use them almost anytime I wash my bike with soap, and they work pretty well. But I will say that they don’t 100% cover the rotor so you can (if you try) get soap and other stuff into them. But I do like them.
