    Depends on what you’re trying to build. Honestly, though, front mechs are all but obsolete now unless you’re talking about a road bike. That being said, there’s always that retro rider who’s looking for one.

    You can probably get it 80% or more with just a stiff brush and some dish soap.

  3. I would use brake cleaner and some kind of textile. That would remove all oil from the surface.
    Or another way is to completely disassemble them and soak them in gasoline for a while. It is cheaper, but might not be that effective.
    As a final step grease every moving joint well.

  4. Scrub it with a small ball of aluminum foil and some WD-40. You’ll be surprised that the results.

  5. The only spot that looks rusty is the inner plate on the front der, everything else should clean up easy. Dish soap, hot water, go to town with a good brush and really get in there. Touch up paint where needed with a paint pen. SC1 as a final finish works great. Regrease all the pivots when you’re done and send ‘er!
