Won this (pretty fancy imo) bike in a raffle today and had Google tell me it was a mountain bike. I’d love to get into a hobby like this, so where do I start? I rode it around the block and it feels totally different to any bike I’ve ever been on. Super breezy but when I don’t pedal and just let momentum take over it feels like it throws something off, no clue if that’s normal on bikes since I haven’t rode since I was probably 13. For people in the scene, is this a good bike? It retails for like $800 so I’m kinda scared to even get on it in fear of ruining it, even though I got it for free lmao. Give a girl some tips!

  1. If you’re considering taking it seriously, you should take it to your local bike shop. Have them give it a once over to make sure bolts are tight, shifting and brakes work, and have them do a bike fitting for you. This will involve setting suspension, seat height, possibly swapping stem length, and maybe cutting bars. All things to make riding the bike more comfortable for you. I would also grab a better pair of pedals, such as the race face chesters. They’re a good platform pedal that’s a lot better than the stock plastic pedals you have on right now.

And if you don’t care for them, take the reflectors off, they look bad and tend to end up loose after a while anyway
