Eva Marcille is defending Tyra Banks’ actions on “America’s Next Top Model,” saying “every intention she had was pure.” Marcille stars in the series “All the Queen’s Men.”

today’s society you can’t say that that that is Politically Incorrect it is insensitive at the time I Bonafide believed no one was trying to be insensitive they were actually trying to be inclusive and funny at the same time so I say that to say the temperature gauge and the barometer that we now measure the things that were are all off the metric system is so messed up Tyra Banks set out to do one thing which was was to show Beauty In a Different Light we forget that tyer is not Jesus she is a woman to air is to be human every intention she had was pure

"it was different back then" is substituting for "it was wrong back then, and we realized that and started doing better, but we shold've done better then."
I respect that. We act in ways that we perceive as acceptable because we saw it being done by others. However, as unfair as it may seem to criticize Tyra’s (and the others who participated) behavior, it needs to continue. Be critical and always call out the BS whenever you see it, now and forever, because we ALL need to learn not to perpetuate harmful speech and actions.
Thank you for saying, Eva! Team Tyra 1000%.
She said that so well
It’s hard to defend Tyra on wanting to show beauty in a different light when she invited models of all sizes on the show and then critique them based on the standard of the modeling industry and expecting them to fit those standards.
I believe that Eva has a distorted perception of America’s next top model because everything worked out for her. And I believe that her experience was not as damaging or as comprehensive or as traumatizing as other people may have gone through but invalidating those people‘s experiences is always going to be The wrong choice.
Because if somebody invalidated her domestic violence with her child’s father, because the next woman they dated him, didn’t have that same experience it wouldn’t be OK either. So just because you didn’t have the same experience as other people does not mean that you can invalidate the feelings and the trauma and the take away that they have from those experiences.
Shes is right. But Tyra was a nightmare, on that show & so we're her fellow judges. Acting like the gatekeepers of modeling. Making the Band type ish.. y'all may not remember, but I do. All that crying she did, on her talk show, about how people were mean to her as a young model.. 😂 Don't trust anyone with mean girl-friends. They're a mean girl, too.
Tyra was Ground Breaking.
Yeah she sadid she mess up wasnt right about , yaya is now famous because of tyra show, and let not forget that part
I get what she is trying to say, no one is perfect that is a given, all human are fallible, and when the show aired there was a different level of awareness on certain topics that is now more widely understood as problematic. However, that doesn't justify or excuse the harm that was done. You also cannot determine a persons motives, everyone believes their own motives are always pure however, that is simply not true. We deceive others and ourselves at times. It sounds like she is not wanting to truly acknowledge the toxic nature of the show
Factss
💯

You're so right ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤love you and all that you do. You're very beautiful woman
Theeee WINNER 😍
I stopped watching 👀 Tyra when she made Eva cut her hair. Can't stand Tyra since. She was cruel and narcissistic.
😮
The teeth changed her whole face, wow.
i half agree half disagree. the kind of bullying tactics and psychological games she played with the girls were far from trying to be inclusive or show different kinds of beauty. tyra/production would target certain girls. i agree that tyra's show put a light on a whole different kind of beauty and i will always be thankful for that. she may have started with pure intentions and got caught up in producer games
I don't like her
Some context would be helpful 🙄
Eva can't really get on board the "Tyra is just an imperfect human" train since Tyra was rather fair to her. Coming out of the gate, she was short, boyish, took okay pictures and was immature, yet she was groomed to be the winner of her cycle from the start. She wasn't picked on for her height like Jenascia. She wasn't picked apart for being "too mannish" like Michelle or Kim. Her pictures weren't deemed "too safe" or bad or whatever like so many other girls. Her attitude was rarely called out on by anyone other than her housemates. While I definitely understand her loyalty to Tyra, trying to dismiss other people's negative encounters with her is wrong.
Keep supporting abuse lol
I salute u Miss Eva ….
Well done Eva 👏
So much respect for you being down to earth, grateful, realistic and not self righteousness like others who got their start on the show, are old enough to know what the world was then (ie not stupidity over sensitive😂) and that the show was revolutionary!
I’m not particularly a Banks fan. But recognise she did something unheard of and produced a show that gave so many a great platform and opportunity.
Glad Eva is humble enough to appreciate it AND NOT BOW to current woke bullying!
I watched Top Model faithfully and loved it. I remember when Eva won, I knew it from day 1, she's incredibly gorgeous. Blessings
2 things can be true
What she said
This is common sense.
❤
Well said, Eva. The current “younger generation” has been indoctrinated so thoroughly they no longer have the brains to think for themselves. Only regurgitate what’s been preached to them.
Thank you
Thanks, Eva I said the exact same thing if we went back and judged every sitcom 20 years ago by today’s standards that would be crazy work
People dont like to see Black ppl with money. Ppl want to come for everybody – not understanding that being "woke" means to shut down the TRADITIONAL oppressor, which is White Supremacy. She made a lot of young women RICH.
She must be on Tyra's payroll or in cahoots with her somehow. Tyra's intentionally abused those models….. Severely and quite often
I love Eva 🙌🏿❣️🤩😻🤩✨💥
👍🏾👌🏾💯
Although her intentions were pure, she was easily influenced by the producers and staff to go along with stuff she knew was bogus bc of that check. And she knew that on the dotted line, she would not be held responsible legally for anything bad happening even though publicly she’d take the heat.
Yeah I don’t think she did anything wrong, it’s was a great tv show, unfortunately it’s off the air now, would it ever be renewed?
What was the controversy? Can you explain this?
I love to see a black woman defend another but let’s be honest here 😂
TRUTH!!! 💯💯
Said one of the meanest contestants in her cycle. It’s been a while (and please correct if I’m mistaken!) but when I watched season 3, she didn’t come across well, but I might watch again actually lol
But isn’t Tyra and Eva the same in many ways?
OH please, ANTM was a reality TV competition show that was based on physical appearance . . . Tyra's only intention was for ratings and $$.
I mean people are suing uber because they can’t fit in cars now 🤷♀️
Yeah… so Stockholm Syndrome is real. There's no amount of gaslighting that covers all the things that serie did. You may love tyra and you are entitled to your own opinion, but so am I. I'm glad she feels like this, but tyra doesn't need anyone to defend her
Yaya had a different opinion and she was runner up. She was and is grateful for the opportunity and because famous as well, but she spoke that her and Tyra hadn’t spoken in decades due to issues with that show
I mean she is tyra favorite in her cycle so 🥱🤭
She all the way right…back then we did not get as offended as they do now…the millennials have some what rough skin but the gen after the millennials are soft and sensitive and watch one or a few of them will be offended by this comment…no more tough skin or common sense is left unless you are 35 and older
I think her intentions were pure initially, but then the show got HUGE and things became skewed more towards entertainment
