The 7mm allen wrench head used to remove this rear thru axle has come apart from the body. The question now is how to remove it? I have loosen the four clamp bolts, two on each side. I guess I need to go in the otherside and find some way to turn. I will loosen off the bolts and add penetrated oil to try and loosen things.

I took it to a bike shop and admittedly they were relatively rushed but they were also quite stumped as how to get it out.

It would be a shame to ruin a $1800 fork.

Any ideas?

  1. Put the cap back and try again! (Clean the threads first, obviously) Put some thread lock on the thread part of the cap, put it back together, wait for it to dry a while, make sure everything else is loosened, and remove it like any other stripped fastener. Make sure you’ve loosened all the clamp bolts, too.

By the way, thru axles can be found online for these forks for ~$50.
