Hi guys, back again! Pure interest here as bit of a numbers guy. Was doing some bunny hops earlier and back wheel slid in dropouts. Hadn't really tightened it hard as didn't want to strip it. Today I borrowed a decent torque wrench and did front bolts and rear nuts. Couldn't find specific numbers for a bmx but park tools reckons 30-44 nm for axle nuts. 23 seemed plenty for the front as they aren't going anywhere, landed on 32 nm on the rear as seemed a lot more than when I was guessing by feel.
Looking at industry standards online it looks like M14 should be tight at 100 nm for an 8.8 fastener, and this is a chromoly axle so will be even more! Any of you torque yours up? 😀

300lb/in for mine lol.
That’s a “feel” thing, no need for fancy tools…

Nah, I have tighten most the bolts by feel in every bike I had for the last 20 years. I would definitely use proper torque on bolts if I had a carbon fiber bike and components.
