Hey,
I’m torn between the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7 Di2 (€4,199) and the Endurace CF 8 Di2 (€3,199) and could use some real-world opinions. Here’s my dilemma:
- Use Case:
- Commuting: ~20km daily on smooth asphalt (with a backpack and SPD).
- Weekend Rides: Longer tours (SPD-SL pedal swap planned).
- CX Background: Used to aggressive geometry but worry about the Aeroad’s lower stack for all-day comfort.
My struggles:
– Fit: Will the Aeroad’s position be miserable with a backpack? I can handle aggressive bikes, but commuting daily is different from racing.
– Groupset: Ultegra DI2 is cheaper than the 105 Di2
– Aero vs. Practicality: The Aeroad is a dream to look at, but the Endurace seems smarter for real life.
Questions for you:
– Aeroad riders: How’s the comfort on longer rides? Any regrets if you use it daily and SPD pedals ?
– Anyone ride an Aeroad with a backpack? Tips to make it work?
I’m leaning toward the Aeroad because it’s so damn cool, but my gut says the Endurace is the grown-up choice. Talk me into/out of it!
I hate the look of the Endurace’s frame plugs.

I’d get a separate bike for commuting. A bulletproof steel single-speed will be super cheap/repairable/replaceable and just as good for your use case (flat route).
And then if you’re just doing long touring rides on the weekend, the Endurace would be the much better option. It’s much more comfortable and will be pretty much just as fast at slow touring speeds. Use the money you save on some nice qol upgrades and accessories for the Endurace.
I have been commuting with a cyclocross for some time. Even if asphalt is smooth 95%, you will have the typical side walk and road issues with some bumps or gravel. Even rain.
Endurance will probably be more all round and get you through more commuting in not ideal weather. Think about splash guards for example, probably not possible on aeroad, on for commuting you will want it because else your backpack will be soaked and IT team not so happy (I’m with the it team 😁 )
For commuting, go endurance. Or similar.
Totally depends on your riding style and how supple your body is.
The Aeroad is quite aggressive position. Great for speed but less comfortable – Compared to a Canyon Endurace the Aeroad has a way lover stack Also due to the Aeroad having a vertical stiff frame if will be less comfortable.
The Ultimate might be an option too. Way more comfortable than an Aeroad (less stiff) but also low stack compared to the Endurance.
I used to the have an Canyon Ultimate but sold that and purchased an Endurace. More comfortable and as my body ain’t that supple anymore and stack of the Ultimate was too low the Endurace suited better
Most of your riding is pointing towards Endurace or Ultimate.
These are two totally different bikes…
Aeroad is not comfortable for a long rides and riding with backpack on Aero is 100% a bad idea.
