Is it just incompatible with the chain for some reason?
New setup – why is the cog making this noise? It seems lined up to me and pulling the chain one way or the other doesn't help. Adjusting tension doesn't affect the noise much either. All new parts.

Normal considering carbon wheels. Buddy of mine using 88 rims sounds exactly the same.
Its like an echo or resonance to your rims
Carbon wheels are loud. Some chains are louder than others.
But this screams too much chain tension.
When people say the chain should have 1″ of up and down movement they don’t mean forceful. They mean 1/2″ of slack.
Just get a normal wheel.
Theres a few things that can make it like that.
Chain tension, chain line, chain/cog wear….
Imo its prob the chainline thats a little off, so what youre hearing is the cog engaging/disengaging with the chain instead of flowing over your cog smoothly.
It sounds like a very tight chain.
Izumi chain? They’re known to be loud
Lube that chain!!
It will stop things from knocking against each other
I liked the slowmo sound, could be part of a beat or a kind of like a transformer noise
If chain breathes, likely just all the new parts pairing and resonating in the carbon echo chamber….chain lubed properly? Chainline? Idk
try chainlube brother
That’s the sound of new components chattering! It’s normal, and a good break-in period will remedy it (for the most part) but you will always have a light and delightful chatter with the Izumi chain.
May have wrong chain size? 3/32 vs 1/8 (4/32)????
Sounds smooth to me, new parts especially Izumi chains do make this kind of noise paired with new cog/chainring
My Izumi V sounded like a motorcycle chain when it was new. Now that I think of it, all my Izumi chains have been loud when new.
